He has been the third most backed horse for the race in the last 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, there have been a surge of bets on Envoi Allen for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
He has been the third most backed horse for the race since yesterday, only behind Shiskin and Asterion Forlonge.
Due to plenty of firms now offering non-runner-no-bet, he is as short as 7/4 for the opening race of Cheltenham. Some firms still don’t think he will go down Supreme route, rating him a 14/1 chance for the race.
In what would be an extraordinary story, punters are backing Envoi Allen to opt for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle rather than the Ballymore, which has looked the plan for a number of months now.
However, Gordon Elliott said last week he will only run in the Supreme if it comes up as very soft ground on Day One of the Cheltenham Festival.
Whilst that may seem unlikely, there is plenty of rain forecast in Cheltenham over the next two weeks.
The excellent drainage system should deal with the downpour but it still an intriguing move by punters for the six-year-old.
He is seven from seven so far in his career and looks like he could be the next superstar of horse racing.
His form lines make for incredible reading and plenty of horses look like they are heading to the Supreme just to avoid Envoi Allen.
However, it could be possible that now they will have to face the unbeaten star.
He took the step up in trip at Naas in his stride and looks like he is better suited by the longer distance in the Ballymore. He still the firm favourite for first race on the Wednesday, currently a best price of 11/8.
If he does change plans, it would be an extraordinary late switch from Gordon Elliott and cause carnage for plenty who are on at big prices for either race.
They may well end up sticking with the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle route, but the move by Oddschecker users is certainly interesting and well worth keeping an eye on.
