SPRINGWELL BAY

The way SPRINGWELL BAY won over C&D when last seen was really impressive. He has top-weight here but could be the class act in the field and might be up to the task. He has gone up 9lb but deservedly so as his form is stacking up. 

That defeat on penultimate start came at the hands of Jango Baie and he has won the Arkle since so it is all working out well. Firefox has more to come now handicapping and looks the obvious danger.

WIN SOME LOSE SOME

The step up in trip definitely saw WIN SOME LOSE SOME improve again. He was a convincing winner at Leopardstown and put away since with this in mind could take a lot of beating. He is obviously completely unexposed as a stayer so lots to like. 

This big field scenario will suit and he must be high on any shortlist. Catch Him Derry will be smuggled into it and I can see him picking them off late and Patter Merchant is another one to note.

JAGWAR

With three wins from four over fences JAGWAR looks one of the best bets of the day. He won pretty much on the bridle over C&D last time so a 7lb rise doesn’t bother me at all. He should continue to improve and I’m expecting a big run. 

Masaccio looked good winning at Newbury on reappearance and then bumped into The Jukebox Man a couple of times. He was behind the selection last time so could be the danger but needs to jump better.

WALKING ON AIR

I’m not mad keen on backing horses following a fall but it worked with Lossiemouth on Tuesday so WALKING ON AIR might be worth siding with here. He looked to be going best when coming down at Doncaster and that form is solid with The Changing Man second. 

He looks well handicapped and if this pans out favourably he’ll be a danger to all. Mint Boy is likeable and ran well to finish third at Punchestown so is definitely feared most.
