Tonight at 6 PM EST MLB will reveal who has been elected, if anyone, to the MLB Hall of Fame. The books believe that only Scott Rolen and Todd Helton have a real shot to be inducted this year, but will either get across the finish line?

2023 MLB Hall of Fame Inductee Odds

The most likely scenario is Rolen will be the only player inducted. The former Cardinal, Phillie, and Red is given +110 odds, or an implied 47.6% chance to be the only player inducted into the Hall of Fame. The least likely scenario is Helton going in alone, with the books given +750 odds, or an implied 11.8% chance that Helton is the only player inducted.

What’s interesting is that the books see both getting in as significantly more likely to happen than nobody getting in this year. With books giving +175 odds, an implied 36.4% chance, for both Rolen and Helton to be inducted. They’re giving +400 odds, an implied 20% chance, that nobody gets inducted this year.

There’s no doubt that both Rolen and Helton will one day be in the Hall of Fame. However, there’s serious doubt that they’ll both get across the line this year. It does seem like the sportsbooks believe that Rolen is close to a lock to getting in this year.

After all, he is such a strong candidate that the books believe it’s more likely he pulls Helton across the finish line than the possibility that nobody at all gets in. We’ll see what happens tonight, but the sportsbooks clearly believe that if nothing else Rolen should get in. We'll just have to wait and see.
