NBA Summer League Odds: Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers Lead Contenders in Las Vegas Summer League

Just two weeks after the NBA Draft, it's already time for the NBA Summer League.

This allows all drafted prospects and other young players to receive more minutes and showcase their abilities to make an NBA team later this year.

That said, for some, it's just extra game experience to build on last year's results.

Ultimately, some of the teams have already played games.

The Spurs, Heat, Lakers, and Warriors are participating in the California Classic, held before the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. In addition, the Grizzlies, Thunder, 76ers, and Jazz are playing in the Utah portion of the NBA Summer League before heading to Las Vegas.

With a handful of games already played outside of Las Vegas, we have a good idea about those eight teams. Will one of those eight teams have more cohesion and win the Las Vegas Summer League this summer? Let's talk about it.

NBA Summer League Betting Favorites

Utah Jazz (+700)

The Utah Jazz have a roster of NBA-level talent for the Summer League. They're led by Kyle Filipowski and Brice Sensabaugh. In addition, the team also has Cody Williams and Isaiah Collier in the starting lineup.

Add those Summer League veterans with the fact that the Jazz also have Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr., and this team is super legit.

In Utah's first Summer League game against the 76ers, the Jazz got 22 from Filipowski and 19 from Sensabaugh. Collier filled up the entire box score, and Williams scored 14 points.

Ace Bailey couldn't find his shot, but scouts saw the potential. It's there. The Jazz need to determine the best ways to help him succeed. That'll likely happen in Las Vegas.

The Jazz are the favorites for good reason. They've got a solid rotation of nine or ten players.

Philadelphia 76ers (+900)

Nobody had a more impressive Summer League debut than VJ Edgecombe of the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite losing to the Jazz, Edgecombe scored 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds, while shooting 13-for-27. Adem Bona, Justin Edwards, Johni Broome, and Judah Mintz all scored in double figures, too.

The 76ers are likely to have no issues scoring. The only problem was the fact that Philadelphia shot just 18.2% from downtown and hit only four three-pointers against the Jazz in that first game. If the 76ers are unable to shoot consistently from three, they 76ers won't win it all.

I'm also not sure the Sixers have enough depth on the bench to be competitive enough to win it all.

Sleeper: Memphis Grizzlies (+1600)

I'm not sure if there's another team with a better top three than the Grizzlies.

Memphis got 20 points from Jaylen Wells and GG Jackson. They also got another 14 points from Cam Spencer. This trio could absolutely dominate this year's NBA Summer League.

In addition, the Grizzlies forced 25 turnovers against the Thunder in their earlier game in Utah. They also shot 96% from the foul line on 25 attempts in that game. They'll need to be more consistent around the rim and mid-range. But overall, the Grizzlies have the pieces to surprise in Las Vegas.
