Jake Paul Fight Record: Examining Jake Paul's Boxing Career Ahead of Anthony Joshua Showdown

Jake Paul is just days away from battling Anthony Joshua in his toughest fight ever. But let's take a look at how we got here. Peter Alexis reviews Jake Paul's fight history and previous opponents ahead of the biggest bout of his career.

Jake Paul Fight Record: How Does Jake Paul's Fight History Stack Up Against Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul’s boxing career has been anything but conventional. Since turning pro in January 2020, Paul has built a 12-1 record with 7 knockouts, carving out a unique lane that blends celebrity spectacle with increasingly serious competition. What began as influencer boxing quickly evolved into sold out arenas, pay per view headliners, and now a Netflix streamed heavyweight bout against Anthony Joshua. Love him or hate him, Paul has become one of the most bankable names in combat sports in just five years.

Friday night in Miami marks a major turning point. For the first time in his career, Paul enters the ring as a significant underdog at +700. Every previous bout since his lone loss has seen him favored, often heavily. That reality alone underscores just how different the Anthony Joshua matchup is compared to anything Paul has faced before. This fight represents not just another spectacle, but a true measuring stick for where Paul stands as a boxer.

Influencer Boxing Era + Retired UFC Fighters

Paul’s early career was firmly rooted in influencer boxing. His debut knockout of Ali Eson Gib in January 2020 set the tone, followed by viral finishes against Nate Robinson and Ben Askren. Those wins generated massive attention but were widely criticized due to the opponents’ lack of boxing experience. Paul leaned into that lane, using name recognition and knockout power to grow his brand rapidly.

That formula continued with a pair of fights against Tyron Woodley in 2021 and a decision win over Anderson Silva in 2022. While Woodley and Silva were elite UFC champions, both were well past their primes and transitioning into boxing late in their careers. Still, these fights represented a step up in toughness and credibility, especially the Silva bout, which remains one of Paul’s more respected wins.

Tommy Fury: First Test & Loss

The Tommy Fury fight in February 2023 marked a clear shift. After months of delays and buildup, Paul finally faced a legitimate young boxer with a traditional background. Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, handed Paul his first and only loss. It was a competitive fight, but it exposed limitations in Paul’s footwork, defense, and adaptability against someone closer to his age and skill level.

That bout remains the most meaningful comparison point in Paul’s career. It was his toughest test at the time and the only fight where he was truly challenged across multiple rounds. Since then, no opponent has come close to matching that level of difficulty, until now.

Post Fury Run and Aging Opponents

Following the loss, Paul pivoted back toward high profile but aging names. He beat Nate Diaz in August 2023 in a massive crossover event, then reeled off knockout wins over Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Michael Perry, and most recently Mike Tyson in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium. The Tyson fight was one of the biggest spectacles in boxing history, but it came with obvious caveats, as Tyson was 58 years old and dealing with significant health concerns.

His most recent win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June 2025 continued the trend. Chavez, 39 at the time, had not fought consistently in years and struggled to keep up physically. While these wins kept Paul active and visible, they did little to silence critics who questioned the level of competition.

Anthony Joshua is a Different Beast

Anthony Joshua stands in a completely different category. He will enter the ring weighing close to 245 pounds, while Paul typically fights around 220. More importantly, Joshua brings elite heavyweight pedigree, championship experience, and knockout power that Paul has never encountered. This is not just Paul’s toughest opponent, it is his toughest opponent by a massive margin.

Paul’s biggest career moments remain the Tommy Fury fight and the Mike Tyson spectacle, with Nate Diaz also standing out as a major draw. But the Joshua bout is something else entirely. It represents a leap from curated matchups into the deep end of professional boxing. Whether Paul can survive, compete, or shock the world will define the next chapter of his career far more than any previous win on his record.
