Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis Odds, Date, How to Watch, and Predictions for UFC 299

While UFC 300 is getting all of the attention this year in terms of PPV cards, this Saturday’s UFC 299 in Miami, Florida, might be the better card from start to bottom. Starting with a fight that could headline most cards in Petr Yan vs. Song Yadong, all the way to the bantamweight championship between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera in the main event.

Before we get there, however, a potential passing of the torch fight is upon us in the co-main event, as veteran UFC legend Dustin Poirier takes on young upstart Benoit Saint-Denis. Let’s take a closer look at both fighters, the odds, and who I like to walk away from this one victorious.

Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis Odds

When the odds for this lightweight clash opened up, Saint Denis was listed as the heavy -150 favorite, which didn’t last for long. As fight night approaches, Saint Denis has shot up to a -205 favorite, with Poirier settled in around +170.

Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis UFC 299 Prediction

Dustin Poirier (29-8-0)

Making his ring walk for the 31st time on Saturday night, Dustin Poirier is a first-ballot UFC Hall of Famer by every possible measure. Like all greats, however, the cracks have begun to show, as he comes into this fight having lost two of his past three fights. The last time we saw him in the octagon was a July loss for the BMF belt vs. Justin Gaethje, a second-round KO loss.

Benoit Saint Denis (13-1-0)

Despite being relatively unknown to most casual fight fans, Saint Denis joined the UFC back in 2021 with a loss to Elizeu Zaleski. Since then, however, he’s been on a tear, winning five straight fights all of which have come inside the distance. We last saw him KO Matt Frevola in the first round in November, his fifth straight win inside five rounds.

Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis Pick

While Saint Denis will certainly be in the mix down the line for title conversations at lightweight, I don’t think Poirier is done just yet. In a fight I think could go the distance, I think Saint Denis is surprised with the level he’s stepping up to for this one.
