With his first fight in the UFC in 2020, the rise was quick for O’Malley, who comes into this fight on a five-fight winning streak. The sole loss of his career came against Vera, a 2020 bout in which he hit a nerve and lost feeling in his left leg in the very first round. Since then, four of his five wins have come inside the distance, most recently to Aljamain Sterling in August for the belt.

Marlon Vera (23-8-1)

Though he doesn’t quite have the resume that many think he should for this title shot, there is no doubt that “Chito” Vera is a fan favorite; and it’s easy to see why. In his eight professional losses, he has never been finished inside the distance and has one of the best gas tanks in all of MMA. The last time we saw him in the octagon was an August win over Pedro Munhoz, on the same card O’Malley beat Sterling.
