On Thursday night we get two of the more exciting teams in college football coming together for what should be an amazing game as the Washington Huskies take on the Texas Longhorns in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Be honest, you don't want to watch Josh Dobbs try and play QB against the Cowboys. You want to see Michale Penix Jr. and Quinn Ewers sling the football around, and that's exactly what we've got on our hands.

Unfortunately, we have to deal with Texas vs. Washington opt-outs, which is the case with every game. But, those opt-outs are much more impactful for one program than they are for the other.

Washington will essentially have their entire team playing in the Valero Alamo Bowl. In total, they have four players scheduled to miss the game, three of which have entered the transfer portal.

As for Texas, they have countless players opting out or entering the transfer portal. However, none of them are more back-breaking than star running back Bijan Robinson. Robinson is opting out of the game as he prepares for the 2023 NFL Draft, where he's expected to go in the first half of the first round.

So, how do we come up with a Texas vs. Washington prediction with all these opt-outs? It's time to break down the Texas vs. Washington odds to try and find out how to bet this one.

The Washington Huskies are my personal favorite story of the 2022 college football season. Not many knew what to expect from the Huskies this season, and what we got was a 10-2 football team that terrorized the Pac-12 with their explosive offense.

Last year, Micahel Penix Jr. came into the season with Heisman hopes. But, he was playing for Indiana, not Washington. Penix was disappointing, injured, and eventually transferred from Bloomington.

Then, he arrived in Washington and set the world on fire, leading the nation in passing yards. Penix, Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan are the most dynamic trio in the entire Pac-12, so it's a little bit of a head-scratcher to see Texas vs. Washington odds favor the Longhorns by three.

As for the moneyline, Texas' odds currently have them as -145 favorites.

But, as we mentioned before, star running back Bijan Robinson has opted out of the game, so it will be up to blue-chip prospect Quinn Ewers to sling it around the field. HE certainly has the talent, but is he ready to keep up with Penix?

Texas vs. Washington Prediction

I'm going to try not to overthink this one. Part of me thinks the sportsbooks may know something with these Texas vs. Washington odds, but the fact remains that Washington is the far better team here. I'm not even going to take the points. I'm just going to ride with Washington for my Texas vs. Washington pick in this one. I expect a huge game from Michael Penix and I expect there to be a QB controversy in Austin when Arch Manning suits up next year after Quinn Ewers struggles to get going.
