We had a couple of Top 10 teams drop in our Week 9 College Football Top 25 rankings.
North Carolina had the most embarrassing loss of the night, with a home loss to Virginia. They'll find themselves lower on the board, along with Penn State, who couldn't figure anything out offensively against Ohio State.
Let's get right to it.
College Football Week 9 Top 25 Power Rankings
1. Georgia
The Bulldogs have a road game against Florida this weekend. I don't think it's a trap game, but playing on the road in Florida is never easy.
2. Michigan
It's clear Michigan is the best team in the Big Ten after a 49-0 rout over Michigan State on the road in a rivalry atmosphere.
3. Ohio State
The Buckeyes probably don't have the offense to hang around teams like Georgia, Florida State, Oklahoma, etc. But for now, after a win against Penn State, they're staying put in the No. 3 spot.
4. Florida State
Florida State's 38-20 win over Duke was impressive. They're still in the No. 4 spot.
5. Oklahoma
Oklahoma escaped UCF with a 31-29 win. Throughout the rankings, you'll see how many teams "escaped" Saturday with a win against a non-top-25 team. But in college football, it's kind of like survive and advance. Oklahoma is undefeated and in line for a CFP berth once Ohio State and Michigan play each other.
That's as long as Oklahoma wins out.
6. Alabama
Alabama's best win of the season came against Tennessee on Saturday. That's a huge boost heading into a bye week. Alabama's next game against LSU will be bonkers.
7. Washington
Washington only defeated Arizona State 15-7 on Saturday. Michael Penix Jr. had his second game where he threw no touchdowns. Lucky for him, the defense picked him up and played sensationally.
8. Texas
Every team will have one of those games where they don't play their best in a conference matchup and find a way. We just spoke about Washington. Texas had the same thing happen against Houston.
The Longhorns survived.
9. Oregon
Oregon's convincing win against Washington State was enough to get them inside the Top 10 again.
10. Oregon State
Oregon State didn't play a game last weekend. They've got Arizona on the road. For now, they're moving up while teams that lost fell below them.
11. Ole Miss
12. Utah
13. LSU
The Tigers will be on a bye week. But a shutout performance against Army, 62-0, has pushed them inside the top 15 with a date against Alabama after their bye week.
14. Penn State
15. Tennessee
16. Duke
17. Notre Dame
18. Missouri
The Missouri Tigers just earned a 34-12 win over South Carolina when many analysts predicted South Carolina would pull off an upset. Not so fast!
19. UCLA
UCLA is back inside the Top 25 after a 42-7 road win over Stanford on Saturday.
20. Louisville
21. North Carolina
22. Air Force
23. James Madison
24. Tulane
25. Liberty
