Heisman Trophy Odds: Jayden Daniels Rises in Award Odds After Domination Over Florida

The 2023 Heisman race is entering the final stages, and it's down to the last few candidates. LSU star quarterback Jayden Daniels is giving it one last push at the award with a strong finish to the season. Can he climb into contention and beat out the Pac-12 leaders? Let's take a look at the latest odds.

Heisman Trophy Odds: Jayden Daniels Rises in Award Odds After Domination Over Florida

Jayden Daniels is flying up the odds leaderboard for the 2023 Heisman trophy after an outstanding performance against the Florida Gators.

Daniels accounted for 600 total yards in the 52-35 victory over their SEC foe, with 372 yards coming through the air.

While the aerial performance was great, the true domination came on the ground with his dual-threat attack. Daniels ran for a shocking 234 yards and two touchdowns, including an 85-yard dash down the sideline.

He now has over 400 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his last two games, more than every SEC running back in that span. He sits in third of the SEC rushing yards leaderboard with 918 yards this year, and is the only quarterback in the top-15 of the rankings.

With only a few games remaining, can Daniels keep these record numbers up and grab an outside chance at the Heisman trophy? Let's take a look at the latest odds and the remaining season scenarios.

Jayden Daniels Odds

Jayden Daniels has flown from +700 to +370 in just one week, and is now tied for the second-best odds. He has matching odds with Michael Penix, who previously led the rankings for the majority of the year.

Unfortunately for the LSU leader, his team now has three losses following a tough one in Tuscaloosa. He may have the stats to get it done, but the award is notoriously won by the superstar on the best team.

He is battling against Michael Penix Jr. of the undefeated Washington Huskies, and Bo Nix of the one-loss Oregon Ducks. Those two are destined to meet for a rematch in the Pac-12 Championship, and the winner will take home the award in all likelihood.

While it is true one of those west coast QBs will be knocked from contention with the championship game loss, Daniels would have to make up significant ground while those two flounder. He has two great opportunities to do so against inferior opponents in Georgia State and Texas A&M, and will need to continue putting up massive stats to surpass Nix.

Both Oregon and Washington have to play against No. 10 Oregon State in the final two weeks before the Pac-12 Championship, so there's a chance that one of the contenders could take a hit with a poor performance or even a loss. Keep an eye on those two matchups if you have stock in Daniels +370 or higher, and hope for him to excel in his final games.
