College Football Playoff Odds: Washington Climbs to Fourth Spot Despite Underdog Odds

The College Football Playoff odds came out again on Tuesday night, and there was a bit of a shake-up on the back end.

The Washington Huskies leapt into the fourth spot for the first time this year, after taking down the Oregon State Beavers in a top-10 road matchup. They will now anxiously await their rematch with the Oregon Ducks for the Pac-12 Championship, and ultimately the fourth playoff spot.

Florida State fell back into fifth, and saw their odds plummet as their quarterback went down with an ankle injury. Can they rally the troops with the backup and stay undefeated, even without Jordan Travis?

Let's take a look at the latest odds after the College Football Playoff Rankings came out for the fourth time this year, and see who's got the best chance of making it with two games left.

College Football Playoff Odds - Washington Still Back at +170

The Washington Huskies are in control of their own destiny, but continue to drop in the odds with each passing week. Two weeks back, they were +145 to make the playoff at a 40% chance. They have continued to fall down to +170 now, despite getting a big win over Oregon State in Week 12.

Their competition, the Oregon Ducks, have continued to grow as a favorite, now at a daunting -180 with a 64% chance. They have torn through any obstacle placed in front of them, and have looked like the better team on both sides of the ball since their last meeting with Washington.

While they still need to get through Oregon State this weekend, the Ducks are on a roll and are listed as two-touchdown favorites over the Beavers at home. They will clinch a Pac-12 Championship berth with the win, and will go on to duel the Huskies for a chance to make the College Football Playoff.

All eyes will be on that Pac-12 battle next Friday night in Las Vegas. The Ducks will probably be closer to touchdown favorite on the neutral field at Allegiant Stadium, but it is winner-take-all in the final conference championship game ever.

College Football Playoff Odds - Florida State Plummets to +130

Elsewhere in the country, Florida State's odds took a major hit following the injury to their starting quarterback, Jordan Travis. In a freak accident, his ankle appeared to snap when getting tackled against North Florida.

The Seminoles went from leading the odds at -350, to now dropping to underdogs at +130. Their implied probability was nearly cut in half, now down to 43% from the previous 78%.

It isn't all over for FSU with two important games remaining. They were able to rally past North Florida after the injury, and will now take on their rival Florida Gators this weekend. They are a touchdown favorite against the Gators, who also have a backup, and will have to let their defense carry the game.

After that, they will take on Louisville in the ACC Championship, also favored by around 5.5 in that one. If they are able to win out, they will skirt into the playoffs, even with a backup QB.
