6 minHeisman Trophy Odds: Will Bo Nix Cement Heisman Campaign in Pac-12 Championship Game?
Bo Nix has extended his lead in the 2023 Heisman trophy odds following a late scare from Jayden Daniels.
The top spot has changed hands several times in recent weeks, with Daniels briefly climbing past Nix for a few days. Nix dropped to +130, his lowest probability since claiming the lead from Michael Penix Jr. in Week 10.
Nix is now firmly back in charge after thumping the Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War rivalry showdown. He amassed nearly 400 total yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the 31-7 beatdown.
While Daniels performed well against Texas A&M, he has run out of opportunities, while Nix has one final contest. All eyes are on the Pac-12 Championship on Friday night, where the Oregon Ducks are solid favorites to exact revenge over the undefeated Washington Huskies and grant Bo Nix a Heisman trophy.

Bo Nix Heisman Odds
Nix has a solid grasp on the leaderboard with -180 odds, and has the added benefit of the Pac-12 title game to bolster his stats.
The latest odds update gives him a 64% chance of taking home the award, and he will look to end the debate with one final victory.
A convincing win in the Pac-12 Championship over Washington will all but end the Heisman race, as it will rightly go to the best player on one of the best teams. Nix has carried Oregon through the ups and downs, and used his veteran leadership skills to guide the team back after the mid-season loss to Washington.
Nix and the Ducks have looked nearly flawless in the second half of the season, winning six straight games following the lone loss. The offense put up an average of 42 points in those victories, and the defense only let up 16 per game. They won each by multiple scores, and were nearly never in danger of losing.
If Nix is able to continue his stellar performances, he will walk away proudly with the award in his sixth year of college football. But if the Ducks were to stumble, there are other candidates waiting in the wings.
Jayden Daniels Odds
In the event of an Oregon loss, where Nix struggles and potentially turns the ball over several times, Jayden Daniels will be sitting back and waiting for the award to come to him.
The LSU star quarterback currently holds slight underdog odds of +140, and has impressive stats to back up his standing.
Daniels is the only player with above a 200 passer rating in the country, and has 50 total touchdowns accounted for. That's seven more than Nix overall, but has thrown two more interceptions and 100 less total yards through 12 games.
The only reason Daniels is not favored right now is because his team lost several close games, and were unable to qualify for a conference championship game. While wins and losses play a major factor in the award, his dominating showings down the stretch nearly override that.
He has just above a 40% chance to still win the award with the current odds, but would need a real stinker from Nix in order to overcome the lack of a 13th outing.
Michael Penix Jr. Odds
Michael Penix Jr. is still in contention for the award as well, but sits much further back in the standings. Despite being the quarterback of the undefeated Huskies, he has longshot +1600 odds to win it and is a 10-point underdog in the Pac-12 Championship game.
Penix would need to throw for something like 400 yards and four touchdowns, and likely defeat the Ducks by double digits in order to steal this award away from his Pac-12 counterpart.
He certainly has the chops to do it, but a string of mediocre showings down the stretch while Nix and Daniels put up serious numbers has hampered his odds to bring home the Heisman.
