Colorado vs. North Dakota State Odds: Sportsbooks Favoring Buffs but Money is Backing NDSU Upset

College football is back!

Sure, last week's Week 0 was technically the start of college football, but tonight is the real inaugural gameday of the 2024 season and we've got a couple of good matchups ahead of us. One of those comes to us from Boulder, CO as Colorado hosts North Dakota State.

On the surface, you've got the high-powered Colorado offense against an FCS team. So, what could go wrong? Unfortunately for the Biffs, NDSU is far from your usual early-season pushover.

The latest Colorado vs. North Dakota State odds make Colorado the massive favorite. The Buffs were down to -9 at one point, but they're currently -10 or -10.5, depending on where you look.

What's really interesting about these Colorado vs. NDSU odds and betting splits is where the money is going on the moneyline. Just 6% of moneyline bets are on NDSU but a whopping 49% of the money is backing the Bison outright, according to the latest oddschecker+ data.

Colorado vs. North Dakota State Game Preview

Sheduer Sanders, Travis Hunter, LaJohntay Wester, Will Sheppard and so on. Surely that's enough firepower for the Buffs to take down NDSU, right?

Despite all the skill on the outside, there are still massive questions about the Buffs and how they'll perform on Thursday night. It's important to remember that this team won one game after starting 3-0 just a year ago. They couldn't protect Shedeur Sanders to save their lives, and once Travis Hunter went down the rest of the team fell flat offensively and defensively.

Some of those holes have been filled. The entire right side of the offensive line is made up of transfers and the No. 13 recruit in the country, Jordan Seaton, debuts at left tackle as a true freshman. Still, will it be enough?

The Bison had an up-and-down season last year, finishing a disappointing 8-3 but also making a run to the FCS Semifinals and falling just short of another National Championship appearance. Still, they return a ton of talent in 2024.

Cam Miller is back under center for the Bison and is throwing the ball to a talented group in RaJa Nelson, Braylon Henderson and Bryce Lance. Losing Eli Green to Iowa State will hurt, but they have the depth to be able to fill his shoes.

This is a dynamic enough offense to give the Buffs some issues. The QB run game between Miller and Cole Payton is a tough one to stop and this Colorado defense couldn't stop a runny nose last season.

Having said all that, this isn't a tremendously talented NDSU team along the defensive front, so I expect Colorado to be able to protect Shedeur Sanders on his way to a big night. I like Colorado by a TD, so give me the Bison to cover the 9.5 or 10.
