2024 Heisman Trophy Odds: Jalen Milroe Rises in Heisman Race with Beatdown Against Wisconsin

It seems like the formula to get ahead in the Heisman trophy odds is to head on the road as an SEC quarterback and blow the doors off of a Big Ten school in their own building. Quinn Ewers started the trend with an easy win over the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines last week, and Jalen Milroe followed in his footsteps this week.

Milroe led the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 42-10 blowout victory against the previously unbeaten Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday afternoon. The offense was nearly flawless for the Tide, and they will now rest up ahead of their clash with the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs as two Heisman candidates will go head-to-head. How much did Milroe move up after the big win?

Let's check out the latest Heisman trophy odds to see how Jalen Milroe matches up in the 2024 race with the top quarterbacks after rolling in Week 3.

Jalen Milroe Heisman Odds

Milroe led the Tide in both passing and rushing on Saturday afternoon, racking up 270 total yards on the road. The yards weren't terribly impressive, but the Tide didn't have to go very far on many drives. Where Milroe excelled was cashing in on opportunities in plus-territory. He threw for three touchdowns, all of which were between 25 and 40 yards in the air.

Milroe also made sure the Tide found success in the red zone. He scored both of his rushing touchdowns in goal-to-go situations, ensuring the Tide did not get stuck kicking field goals. That will be a crucial skill in SEC play, with many games coming down to who can punch it in against top defenses.

After the dominating victory, Milroe flew up to +650 in the latest Heisman trophy odds, passing by Carson Beck, Cam Ward, and Jaxson Dart, all of whom were listed ahead of him at +1000 odds or better this morning. Of course, those stars will take the field tonight and look to continue building their case for the Heisman with strong non-conference performances.

Milroe was previously at +1200 odds coming into this week after he struggled in the first three quarters against USF last weekend. Despite accounting for less than 200 total yards, he managed two touchdowns through the air and two on the ground when all was said and done. The Crimson Tide offense exploded for four TDs in the fourth quarter to pull away, but hadn't impressed until that point. Milroe certainly quieted the doubters today with touchdown after touchdown against a respected Power 4 opponent on the road.

Alabama now has a week off as they get ready for a date with Carson Beck (+900) and the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs. The winner of that game will certainly fly in the Heisman rankings, so get ready for that clash on September 28th as the race for the trophy continues.
