One of the most exciting preseason storylines is set to be in Chicago as Mitchell Trubisky tries to hold on to his spot as the Chicago Bears starting quarterback. DraftKings aren't so sure and have made Nick Foles a -305 favorite.
Nick Foles arrived in Chicago after spending a dissapointing year in Jacksonville, where he failed to find any of the magic that led him to that famous Super Bowl win for the Eagles. At odds of -305 he's got an implied probability of 75.3% to be the starting QB against the Detriot Lions in week one.
Foles arrival was greeted as bad news for Trubisky, who has failed to reach the expectations that were expected of him when he was drafted 2nd overall in 2017.
A series of bad performances have transformed him into a meme but the Bears will still hope he could realize the potential they saw in him. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported it would be an "open competiton" to get the starting job.
Trubisky has had his chances, and with the Bears 29th in both yards per game, and points per game, last season, he hasn't delivered. DraftKings give him a 33.3% chance of starting against Detroit but at +200 that could offer the shrewd bettor an opportunity, with the franchise keen to give the Ohio-born Trubisky every chance to repay their faith in him. After all, we all know how hard it is for a front office to admit that they were wrong in drafting a player, let alone one with such high draft capital.
Also worth mentioning is Tyler Bray, who at +6000 has a 1.6% chance of starting in the opener, relying on serious injuries to both of his competitors.
