NFL Odds: Matt Ryan New Favorite Over Mahomes For Most Passing Yards

Matt Ryan’s odds of throwing the most passing yards in the regular season have shortened to +650, making him the outright favorite to win the award.
Prior to the beginning of the season, Ryan was tied with Patrick Mahomes as joint-favorite to claim the accolade with odds of +700. However, his figures in the loss to Seattle have prompted oddsmakers to elevate him to clear frontrunner.
Atlanta’s QB has had his odds cut to a best price of +650, indicating that the books believe he has a 13.33% chance of topping the passing stats. Some have even cut their price to as short at +260, implying a 27.78% chance.
Ryan passed for 450 yards despite being on the losing team - compared to Mahomes’ 211 in the Chiefs win over the Texans – which has put him in the driving seat and oddsmakers have reacted accordingly.
Dak Prescott, Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford make up the current top five likeliest challengers, but their odds are significantly longer.

Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “Atlanta’s gunslinger showed us exactly what his arm is capable of and sportsbooks are clearly taking it as a sign of things to come.”
“Given the undeniable talent of Patrick Mahomes – who is the favorite to win MVP this season – it is a real mark of respect for Ryan to be considered more likely to record more passing yards this season.”
