Deshaun Watson Odds: Where Will QB End Up For Week 1?
Deshaun Watson Odds: Where Will QB End Up For Week 1?
The last time oddsmakers gave odds on Deshaun Watson’s possible destination it was prior to the 2021 NFL Draft. Now, most of the favorites have found their solutions at QB. The ones who haven’t are gearing up for camp with QBs who are under contract long term.
Prior to the draft, the Dolphins, Jets, Broncos, and Panthers were the favorites to potentially land Watson. Since then, the Jets drafted Zach Wilson, the Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater to compete with Drew Lock, and the Panthers traded for Sam Darnold. Even the longshots for Watson have move on with the 49ers drafting Trey Lance and the Patriots drafting Mac Jones.
In fact, only 3 teams that were originally given odds didn’t make a significant move at QB. Those would be the Houston Texas, +210, Miami Dolphins, +250, and Las Vegas Raiders, +1500. The Texans drafted a QB in the 3rd round, but it wouldn’t be a shocker to see Davis Mills spend a year or two on the bench. The Dolphins are in the same situation they were in 3 months ago, Tua Tagovialoa is their starter with nobody else challenging him. The same is true for the Raiders who haven’t moved on from Derek Carr.
By waiting so long to make Deshaun Watson available the Texans have bled the market dry. Teams either moved on or no longer have the draft capital to make a deal work. The biggest exception is the Philadelphia Eagles. However, oddsmakers didn’t list the Eagles when they last had odds. So, there’s no telling what they think of their potential chance to acquire the star QB. Â
