Jalen Hurts Odds
There are a ton of really odd quarterback battles this summer. Rookies Justin Fields and Trey Lance have looked much better than the assumed starters, but their teams have said that both will start the year on the bench.
Who knows what Washington is doing at QB? Assuming they go with Fitzpatrick, how long until he earns a benching?
But, one quarterback battle we didn’t necessarily see coming is the one in Philadelphia. To be clear, Jalen Hurts should be the starter. When Carson Wetnz was traded to Indianapolis, everyone assumed it was Jalen Hurts’ job from then on. But, new head coach Nick Sirianni has all but refused to name Hurts the Week 1 starter, leading to some questioning how much the Eagles believe in Hurts.
Come Week 1, the Eagles will have Hurts under center, that you can almost guarantee. But, will he be forced to look over his shoulder every week, like his predecessor Wentz was, wondering if every bad throw he makes will lead to a benching?
Hopefully not. Hopefully the front office and coaching staff give Hurts at least a full season to try and establish himself. He has good weapons around him with Miles Sanders at running back, Devonta Smith at wide receiver and the best tight end duo in the NFL.
What doe Jalen Hurts’ odds for the 2021-2022 NFL season say about his chances for success? Let’s take a look.
Jalen Hurts Total Passing TDs Odds
Jalen Hurts’ success in the NFL comes down to how good of a passer he can be, and there is still a lot up in the air when it comes to his effectiveness in the passing games. As mentioned earlier, the tight end combo of Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert is the best in the NFL. They will provide him with a security blanket that no other QB has. Miles Sanders is not only a great runner, but he’s also great catching the ball out of the backfield. The real question mark comes down to his wide receivers.
Devonta Smith is, by all accounts of his training camp performances, looking fantastic. But, the exact opposite has been said about Jalen Reagor. Reagor and Smith are slotted to start on the outside with Greg Ward in the slot. But, if Reagor starts slow we could see him benched in favour of last year’s standout, Travis Fulgham, or Quez Watkins.
If you are expecting a big year from Jalen Hurts, the good news is his passing TD prop is set really low. His total passing TD number sits at 20.5 with the over sitting at -105 odds.
Jalen Hurts total TD passes are set at 20.5 (Over -105)
Jalen Hurts Passing Yards Odds
Devonta Smith is the key to a lot when it comes to Jalen Hurts’ success. Former Alabama teammates, Hurts and Smith have been seen with each other almost every step of the way this offseason. If Smith can live up to the hype, he will give the Eagles their first true No. 1 wide receiver since who? Terrell Owens?
Like his touchdowns prop, Jalen Hurts’ passing yards prop isn’t set too high at just 3.750.5 yards, but can you trust that Hurts will play all 17 games this season with Joe Flacco looming behind him
Jalen Hurts total passing yards is set at 3,750.5 (Over -115)
Jalen Hurts to lead the NFL in passing yards is set at +13000
Jalen Hurts MVP Odds
Is Jalen Hurts likely to win an MVP award this season? No. The Eagles will likely not be very good as they try to turn over a rapidly aging roster and decide about the direction of the franchise in the immediate future. But, stranger things have happened.
Hurts looked sharp in his preseason debut, hitting throws that he didn’t have in his arsenal last season. That out route he hit Dallas Goedert on against Pittsburgh last week is a throw he wouldn’t have event attempted last season. That gives us hope that we could see a much more effective passer in Hurts this season. If he can be good from the pocket and use his net-level athleticism to make plays happen, who knows how far the Eagles can go?
Jalen Hurts' odds to win NFL MVP in 2021 are set at +8000
