New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team: Preview
Both teams are headed into this game following Week 1 losses and could really use this win to keep pace with the Eagles, who are currently in first place in the NFC East.
Washington’s QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is questionable to play after exiting the game with a hip injury. Washington’s backup, Taylor Heinicke, does have some valuable regular season and playoff experience, filling in last year for the injury-ridden Washington QB’s. Heinicke finished 11-for-15 with 122 yards in the loss on Sunday. The downgrade from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Taylor Heinicke for the Washington Football team is not massive, and likely explains why they are still the favorites going into Thursday night.
For the Giants, Daniel Jones continued to turn the ball over and was not able to deliver for New York in their home opener against the Denver Broncos. The Giants looked worse than Washington in Week 1, they got blown out 27-13 In their home opener. Daniel Jones scored a touchdown as a clock expired, which means that the Giants only managed to score 7 points throughout the rest of the game. New York totaled 314 yards of total offense and allowed 420 yards for Teddy Bridgewater’s offense. One of the most disappointing stats coming from the New York Giants is that running back Saquon Barkley finished with only 26 yards on 10 carries.
