NFL Defensive Player Of The Year Odds: T.J. Watt Provides Good Value
Just when you think that he can’t get any better, T.J. Watt takes his game to another level. It was yet another disruptive night for Watt in the Steelers Monday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears. He sacked Justin Fields three times, bringing his sack total up to 11.5 through seven games so far this season.
He’s had a sack in six of his seven games played and has recorded more than one in all but two games this season. The hefty price tag that Watt received, four-years $112 million was well worth it for the dominant edge rusher.
Somehow, he’s still not the favorite to take home the defensive player of the year award in 2021. He trails Myles Garret as the only one to have better odds

If you’re going off of a per-game basis, Watt has been the more effective player this year but since he trails Garrett by two games the overall numbers don’t look the same. After back-to-back All-Pro seasons is this finally the year that Watt takes home defensive player of the year? You can really make the case that it should be him in 2021.
