Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals NFL Week 14 MNF Betting Odds, Picks, and Preview

For the second straight week, we have a great Monday Night Football game on tap. Week 14 of the NFL season will conclude with an NFC West Division showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals. The game looms extremely large for both teams as they come in separated by just two games in the division standings. After winning the first head-to-head meeting back in early October, the Cardinals can all but clinch an NFC West title with a victory on Monday night. The NFL betting odds do give Arizona a slight edge to get the job done.

Los Angeles Rams Preview

After a winless month of November, the Rams were able to snap a three-game losing skid with a blowout of the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday. Of course, the lowly Jaguars aren’t exactly a worthy opponent to determine if the Rams have actually solved some of their issues. Nonetheless, it was a much-needed get-right game for L.A. Despite reportedly dealing with a chronic back injury, Matthew Stafford was terrific in the win. Star receiver Cooper Kupp continued his incredible statistical season while Van Jefferson has also emerged as a solid second option in place of the injured Robert Woods.

Despite ranking sixth in overall adjusted defensive efficiency, the Rams have allowed north of 22.5 points per game this season. By trading for veteran linebacker Von Miller, Los Angeles made it clear that they are all in on winning the Super Bowl this season. However, they failed to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers two weeks ago. Dominating the Jaguars is not a result that one should base NFL betting picks on. How the Rams fare on Monday against an Arizona offense that scored 37 points in the first meeting between the teams this season will be a much better indicator of whether things are headed in the right direction.

Arizona Cardinals Preview

Fresh off of a Week 12 bye, the Cardinals welcomed back both quarterback Kyler Murray and top receiver DeAndre Hopkins last week after each missed three games. Murray promptly went out and accounted for four total touchdowns on a windy and rainy day in Chicago as the Cardinals pummeled the Bears. Hopkins got in on the action as well, hauling in one of Murray’s two TD passes. Arizona is set to get another boost offensively this week as running back Chase Edmonds prepares to return from IR. He will rejoin James Conner in what has been a very productive backfield this season.

Despite Murray and the offense garnering the hype and adoration of the media and sub-par NFL betting analysts, it is the Cardinals’ defense that is the reason why they enter Week 14 with the best record in football. Coordinator Vance Joseph has done a phenomenal job all season, particularly in recent weeks after losing pass-rusher J.J. Watt to a season-ending injury. Arizona came away with four interceptions in last week’s win and ranks second in the NFL with a +12 turnover margin on the season. Pass-rusher Chandler Jones is still a force to be reckoned with while cornerback Byron Murphy and safety Budda Baker anchor one of the best secondaries in the league.

Rams vs. Cardinals NFL Betting Odds and Line Movement

The following list contains the best Rams vs Cardinals NFL betting odds and lines available in the market.

  • Moneyline: LAR: (+116) | ARZ: (-130)
  • ML Implied Win Probability: LAR: (46.3%) | ARZ: (56.5%)
  • Spread: LAR: +2.5 (-105) | ARZ: -2.5 (-109)
  • Total: 51 — Over: (-110) | Under: (+100)

This MNF matchup has actually seen very limited NFL betting line movement relative to the opening numbers. The current point spread of Cardinals -2.5 mirrors the opening line set by oddsmakers. While the consensus total has come down 1.5 points from the opening 52.5, the fact that the market is juiced to the over suggests that a shift back to at least 51.5 is looming.

Despite the lack of line movement, 69% of all spread bets are laying the points with Arizona. Clearly, that percentage is not made up of “smart money” since the spread has not been altered.

Rams vs. Cardinals Betting Picks and Prediction

A big reason why the Cardinals were able to throttle the Rams in the first head-to-head meeting this season was due to mistakes. Los Angeles lost the turnover battle 2-0 in that game. A costly giveaway along with penalties early on saw the Rams fall behind quickly. After that, it was clear to those watching that L.A. mailed it in.

The stakes couldn’t be any higher ahead of this MNF NFL betting matchup. If the Rams hope to win the NFC West Division crown and have any shot at a bye in the playoffs, this game is a must-have. The Rams have notably owned the Cardinals throughout Sean McVay’s tenure as head coach. In fact, Arizona’s win back in October snapped an eight-game winning streak for L.A. in this divisional rivalry. Look for McVay and Stafford to have adjustments ready for Monday’s rematch.

Rams vs Cardinals NFL Betting Picks: Rams +2.5 (-105) and Rams ML (+116)
