Washington Football Team Name Odds: Redtails and Renegades Among Favorites

Before the start of the 2020 season, Washington dropped their former name and logo and transitioned to the Washington Football Team. They kept the red and yellow colors that were synonymous with the franchise while sporting a W as the logo for the time being.

The Washington Football Team wasn't meant to be a permanent name for the franchise and Jason Wright, who was hired to be the President of the organization, was tasked with finding a new one.

Well, it appears like a decision has been made. On February 2, 2022, there will be an official release of the new name, logo, and uniforms according to a release from the team.

So with that in mind, what will the new name be? Here's a look at the most recent odds that were made available in July for what the new name would be.

Now, we can cross some names off this list based on the release. Redwolves or Wolves will not be the name due to copyright issues and you can obviously take out Football Team as well.

That leaves us with Redtails and Renegades as the two favorites with process of elimination. In just under a month we'll have our answer but for now, we can have some fun speculating and coming with photoshop renderings of uniforms based on the name options. This is a huge opportunity to rebrand a historic franchise, Washington isn't taking that lightly.
