2022 NFL Odds to Go Undefeated: Chargers, Bucs, and Bills Lead the Way
Will an NFL team go 17-0 this year? Sportsbooks have a few ideas including the Chargers, Bucs, and Bills being the front runners to do so. But can one of them have a perfect season?

Will an NFL team go 17-0 this year? Sportsbooks don’t really believe that’s a possibility. They’re giving +1600 odds, or an implied 5.9% chance, that any team in the NFL could go unbeaten. If a team is going to do it though, sportsbooks are looking at the Los Angeles Chargers.

2022 NFL Odds to Go Undefeated
The Chargers are given +550 odds, or an implied 15.4% chance to be the last undefeated team remaining for the 2022 NFL season. The next best odds are given to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +600, or an implied 14.3% chance. In fact, only four teams are given at least a 10% chance to be the last undefeated team. The Chargers and Bucs are joined by the Buffalo Bills at +650 and the Denver Broncos at +900.
It's interesting to see the Chargers at the top of this market because sportsbooks don’t expect them to be among the best teams in the NFL. They’re tied for seventh to finish the season with the best record in the NFL at +1400 with the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos. They’re behind division rival and Week 2 opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Why do sportsbooks like the Chargers to be the last undefeated team? It’s all about their schedule. Through their first eight games, they play just two teams who finished with a winning record in 2021. They host the Raiders in Week 1 and they travel to the Chiefs in Week 2. If they win those games then there’s a very real chance they start the year 8-0. If they make it that far then it’s hard to see them not being the last remaining undefeated team.
Of course, those first two games, and their Week 6 game against the Broncos present risk. However, with two of those games at home sportsbooks clearly believe that the Chargers have the upper hand. From their point of view, it’s all about whether or not the Chargers can win in Week 2. That may determine everything.
