NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Sauce Gardner 10/1 to Win Rookie of the Year

Coming out of Cincinnati, Sauce Gardner was one of the most hyped cornerback prospects in recent years, and for good reason. The New York Jets selected him fourth overall to help their 32nd-ranked defense coming off the 2021 season.

Well, Sauce Garnder has made a name for himself in the preseason as he has yet to face a target through three games. Opposing offenses have not even attempted a pass Sauce's way.

With a nickname like that, Sauce Garnder also announced a partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings which just seems so perfect for the both of them.

If you're wondering, Sauce Gardner has some pretty good NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year odds. Let's take a look.

Swaggy Sauce Gardner has a 9.09% chance to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, which is fifth best when checking out the latest Defensive Rookie of the Year odds. We mentioned him being one of the most hyped corner prospects in years and one of the reasons behind that was due to the fact that he never allowed a touchdown against in three years at Cincinnati.

Yes, in over 2,000 career snaps he did not allow a single receiver to get in the endzone. Truly, special stuff from Gardner during his collegiate career.

The question becomes whether or not a corner can win this award as more often than not it goes to players who sack the quarterback. Since 2015, two corners have won the award in Marshon Lattimore in 2017 and Marcus Peters two years prior.

It's not impossible but he's going to have to have a stellar season on a defense that just wasn't very good last year. The favorite to win this award is Aidan Hutchinson, who saw limited action in the preseason for Detroit. The former Michigan breakout star was the number two pick in the 2022 draft.

If Sauce can channel his inner Revis Island, then perhaps this is a conversation worth having. Something about those press corners in green and white, it just does it for me.
