Super Bowl Odds: Jets, Giants Fans Not Optimistic About Super Bowl Chances

Sportsbooks don’t believe that the Jets or Giants really has a shot to make any noise this year. The two teams from New York are believed to be among the worst teams in the NFL. Both are given +15000 odds, or just an implied 0.7% chance to win the Super Bowl, which puts them in a four-way tie for the fifth worst odds in the NFL.

So, OddsChecker went out to the public to see what they had to say about these odds. At MetLife prior to Sunday’s Jets and Giants game, OddsChecker asked many of those in attendance what they believed about the odds, especially when compared to longshots on other markets.

When fans of the Jets and Giants were told that their teams had longer odds to win the Super Bowl than Tom Brady had to win the 2024 Presidential election, +12000, most could only laugh. Other took it seriously with one person telling OddsChecker, “I hate Tom Brady, but he may be a better choice than anyone else who may run in 2024.”

When told that Johnny Depp had better odds of being Kim Kardashian’s next girlfriend, +10000, most spent time arguing about whether or not they were a good match, but most agreed it was more likely than a Jets or Giants Super Bowl. One person told OddsChecker, “They’ve both had a hell of a year. Nobody would understand what the other is going through more than those two. Perhaps that makes them a perfect match for each other.”

Matt Damon as the next James Bond? Yep, sportsbooks believe, +10000, that there’s a better chance that there could be an American James Bond than a Jets or Giants Super Bowl victory this year. Fans actually believed that Damon as the next Bond was the most realistic of the scenarios presented to them. One fan told OddsChecker, “He already has the look. I think he’d be perfect. That one makes sense.”

The one thing that OddsChecker couldn’t find was a person who had faith that the Jets or Giants could make a run this year. One Jets fan told OddsChecker he actually had a bet on the Jets to win the Super Bowl by 2026. He wasn’t confident it would cash, “Oh yeah, all of those things are more likely to happen than a Jets Super Bowl”, the fan said, “I have a bet on the Jets to win the Super Bowl by 2026 and I’m already preparing for my loss.”

The only thing Giants fans were worried about was having better odds than the Jets though. Multiple fans told OddsChecker that while they don’t believe the Giants could win the Super Bowl the sportsbooks should be giving the Giants better odds than the Jets. One fan was adamant, “We don’t have a shot, but the Giants are better than the Jets. Sportsbooks have to put them ahead of the Jets. I can’t believe they view the teams equally.”

It was surprising how little faith fans had in both teams. After all, just last year the Bengals were given the same +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl before Week 1. It would certainly be a surprise to see either the Jets or Giants win the Super Bowl this year, but if their fans don’t believe it can happen then who will?
