Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Odds: Are the Eagles a Good Bet After Landing Chauncey Gardner-Johnson?
Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Odds: Are the Eagles a Good Bet After Landing Chauncey Gardner-Johnson?
Howie Roseman made a big splash today for the Philadelphia Eagles when he traded for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson from the New Orleans Saints. This move came as a surprise but according to reports, the Saints and Gardner-Johnson could not agree on an extension which is what led to the move.
The Eagles are getting a quality starter in Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to play in their secondary. He's a versatile chess piece, who can play defensive back or linebacker and is coming off a 2021 season that saw him get two sacks and 46 tackles in 12 games.
Missed tackles are a little bit of an issue as he's missed at a rate of 18% in his career but he is a force as a pass rusher and is solid enough in coverage to make up for that. Today, I wanted to take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl odds and see if they are a good bet at +2500.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Odds +2500 (Bet $100 to win $2500)
The Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl odds did not move after the trade, nor did I expect them to. Instead, I wanted to look at this and see if this move changes my opinion at all for the trajectory of their season.
Even before the trade, the Eagles added a ton to this defense in the offseason. They added Hasson Reddick, James Bradberry, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, and now Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
The anticipation is that the Eagles will play Gardner-Johnson at safety as they immediately released Anthony Harris after the trade. A secondary that includes Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, Marcus Epps, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is downright deadly.
The Eagles' defense ranked 18th in the NFL last year, and will likely take a big step up here. It's all dependent on Jalen Hurts, as cliche as that may sound. The roster on both sides of the ball has improved drastically and it's all up to him now to take that next step.
The Eagles Super Bowl odds at +2500 are appetizing but is there a better play? The Super Bowl is still a little bit of a longshot but at +150 for the division, this one might be a little bit more appealing. If you want to go all out the Super Bowl might be the play for you but if you want a more conservative, yet still a plus-money bet then I'd advise the NFC East odds.
