Super Bowl Odds: How Jimmy Garoppolo Staying With the 49ers Impacts Their Odds
Since 2017, Jimmy Garoppolo has been the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. His best year was in 2019 when he threw for 27 touchdown passes and 3,978 yards en route to a Super Bowl appearance for the 49ers.
Last year, the 49ers got aggressive though, and traded up in the NFL Draft to take a quarterback. It ended up being Trey Lance, who for the most part sat in his rookie season behind Jimmy G who led the 49ers to an NFC Championship game appearance against the Los Angeles Rams.
Now, San Francisco will be handing the keys over to Lance but they won't be doing it without Garoppolo on the roster. The San Francisco 49ers restructured his deal to keep him around in 2022. Here's how the contract restructure impacted the 49ers Super Bowl odds.

49ers Super Bowl Odds +1600 (Bet $100 to win $1600)
The San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl odds don't change after the news of the restructure. They are still given a +1600 chance to win. The reasoning behind this is the sportsbooks know that it all comes down to Trey Lance.
If Lance pops off the page, then the 49ers will have a much easier path to the Super Bowl. While they have gone far in the playoffs before with Jimmy Garoppolo, getting over the hump with him seems unlikely.
What he does provide though is veteran experience in a backup if God forbid anything did happen to Lance.
Last year, Lance started two games for the 49ers. In his first start, he went 15 of 29 for 192 yards and an interception in a loss to the Cardinals. The second time out was much better when he went 16 of 23 for 249 yards two touchdowns and one interception.
The team around him is good and ready to win, now it's just up to Lance to see how big of a step that he can take.
