Aaron Rodgers' career in Green Bay appears finished, though that’s been said before. With a disappointing 2022 season, both parties may feel it’s best to move on. So, if Rodgers' career is over in Green Bay, and he doesn’t choose to retire, where might he end up? Sportsbooks have a number of contenders, but it’s the Colts who have the edge.
The Colts have had a parade of veteran QBs in recent years. From Matt Ryan to Carson Wentz to Phillip Rivers. The books are now giving +350 odds on Aaron Rodgers being the next veteran QB in line. That’s an implied 22.2% chance to land the star QB.
They aren’t the only team on the market though. The Commanders, +400, the Lions +500, the Jets +550, the Saints +550, and the Panthers +650 are all given better than a 10% chance of landing the future Hall of Famer. All told there are nine teams listed on the market.
Aaron Rodgers may end up the prize of the offseason QB market. The two-time reigning MVP has dealt with injuries and a lack of weapons around him in 2022, but that’s unlikely to deter interested teams. If Rodgers hits the open market he’ll be the most sought-after player in the NFL with more than half the league after him. The books say the Colts are the favorites, but logic says a contending team will take the plunge. Perhaps the Jets, Commanders, or Giants, who are all competing for a playoff spot this season. Feels like the books are looking at team history rather than logical landing spots at this point.
