New York Jets Playoff Odds: Jets Have Just 20% Chance to Make the NFL Playoffs

The New York Jets playoff odds are now sitting at an implied chance of just 20%. However, the Jets can still make the playoffs if things go their way. Jon Conahan breaks down the latest New York Jets playoff odds.

New York Jets Playoff Odds: Jets Have Just 20% Chance to Make the NFL Playoffs

The New York Jets playoff odds continue to go down as the team hasn't been able to take care of business. With three losses in a row to the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions, the Jets put themselves in a tough position to make the playoffs.

New York takes on Trevor Lawrence and the 6-8 Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Quarterback Zach Wilson is expected to get the start as Mike White still deals with his rib injury. While Wilson hasn't played well this season, this could be the perfect bounce-back spot for him. Jacksonville has arguably the worst pass defense in football.

However, if you ask any Jets fan out there, they still don't have much confidence in him to get the job done. New York started the season playing great football. They took care of business against the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and others to put themselves in a great spot. Unfortunately, the Jets didn't do what they needed to do and now put themselves in a bad position.

There's still a chance the Jets can make the playoffs and the fans are holding hope that they can get to that spot. It's been an interesting season for them because coming into the season, no one expected them to be in this position. The year was one where the Jets were hopeful for a big Zach Wilson jump and with the team winning, it's caused a few issues on that side. From being injured, to starting, to being benched, to back to starting, this season hasn't been one that the Jets and Wilson have hoped for. At least in terms of his development. Everything else has gone well.

Let's break down the New York Jets playoff odds and see where they stand and what needs to happen for them to make the playoffs.

As we can see from the New York Jets playoff odds, the team needs to essentially win out if things are to go their way. There are other ways that the Jets can make the playoffs, however.

They take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Miami Dolphins in their final three games. While those are three tough opponents, and going to Miami in Week 18 and Seattle in Week 17 won't be easy, the Jets have proven that if they're on their game, they can get the job done.

Jacksonville is playing well recently, showing their exciting offense off against a tough Dallas defense. The Jets' defense won't have an easy task on hand, but they're one of, if not, the best defense in football.

Going to Seattle is never easy. Still, the Jets can win that game.

The Miami game in Week 18 could be the one that decides if they or the Dolphins make the playoffs if certain scenarios happen. New York beat up on the Dolphins in the beginning of October, winning 40-17. However, Skylar Thompson was the starting quarterback for the Dolphins. When Tua Tagovailoa is running the offense, Miami is a much different team. But as we've said, the Jets could win this game.

Miami is 8-2 against the Jets in their last 10, but this is a different Jets team than in years past.

For the New York Jets playoff odds to be where their fans want them, they need things to happen. The teams they will be fans of are whoever takes on the Dolphins, Patriots, and Chargers. Unfortunately, unless the Patriots finish with a worse record than the Jets, New England has the tiebreaker due to going 2-0 against them this season.

The New York Jets playoff odds aren't looking great, but this year can still be looked at as a success. GM Joe Douglas has arguably done the best job out of any GM in the NFL Draft and when New York finds their quarterback, they might even be Super Bowl contenders because of what they've built on the defensive side of the football. Oh, and Garrett Wilson and a healthy Breece Hall aren't too shabby either.
