NFL MVP Odds: Patrick Mahomes Stretches Lead in NFL MVP Race Entering Week 17

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to another win this past weekend which keeps them tied with the Buffalo Bills for the best record in the AFC. Mahomes threw for two more touchdowns adding to his already league-leading number, and rushed for a score to cap off the win late in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs and Mahomes locked up another AFC West division title and are level with the Bills vying for a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Mahomes helped his chances in the 2022 NFL MVP race, but things could tighten up with Josh Allen and the Bengals taking on Joe Burrow and the Bills next week.

NFL MVP Race

Patrick Mahomes - KC MVP Odds (-500) (Bet $500 to collect $100) BetMGM has the best odds, click here to bet

Entering Week 16, Mahomes was already the NFL MVP favorite at -250. Following another strong performance on Christmas Eve, he solidified his position on top of the NFL MVP odds, getting bumped down to a -500 favorite or an implied 83% chance to be named MVP. The Chiefs have scored the most points per game in the NFL, and Mahomes leads the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns He is on track to lead the Chiefs to their fifth-straight AFC Championship game.

Joe Burrow - CIN MVP Odds (+600) (Bet $100 to collect $700) BetMGM has the best odds, click here to bet

Burrow is right behind Mahomes in passing touchdowns this season, trailing him by just 3. He is second in completion percentage and passing yards. He has the Bengals riding a seven-game winning streak into next week's showdown with the Buffalo Bills. If Burrow can lead the Bengals passed Buffalo, it will give them a great shot at finishing on top of the AFC. Burrow and Allen have a real opportunity to make a statement in the NFL MVP race next Monday night.

Josh Allen - BUF MVP Odds (+1100) (Bet $100 to collect $1,200) BetMGM has the best odds, click here to bet

The Bills own the best record in the AFC alongside the Chiefs, but they own the head-to-head tiebreaker. The preseason favorite for MVP has fallen behind Burrow and Mahomes, but if anyone will unseat Mahomes with two weeks to play, it will be Allen. Allen ranks top three in passing touchdowns, EPA per play, and QB rating. They clinched the AFC East title this week, and if it weren't for the frigid weather in Chicago, Allen and the passing game would have had an even bigger day. He has thrown 13 interceptions compared to Burrow's 12 and Mahomes' 11, but he is an incredible threat with his legs. Allen has 38 rushing scores since the start of 2018! That's the tenth-most in the NFL since then! He broke Dan Marino's record for the most passing touchdowns in the first five seasons. Next week on the road versus a banged up Bengals defense could decide if Allen can make a move and threaten Mahomes for MVP.

Jalen Hurts - PHI MVP Odds (+1000) (Bet $100 to collect $1,100) Caesars has the best odds, click here to bet

Jalen Hurts' MVP odds took a hit this week when he sustained a shoulder injury and missed the Eagles Week 16 matchup with the Cowboys. He still has an outside chance if he returns next week and puts up huge numbers, but even in that case, it's unlikely the quarterback of the best team in the NFC Conference this regular season can compete with the top three quarterbacks in the AFC for the MVP Award.
