Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts are the current NFL MVP odds favorites. There's a good case to be made that each player should win the MVP this season, but the oddsmakers certainly don't feel that way right now with the current odds.

Patrick Mahomes is the heavy favorite to be the NFL MVP in terms of the NFL MVP odds, but there's much more to this and many things could change if stuff does happen within the final week of the season.
Perhaps if Joe Burrow or Josh Allen significantly outplays each other in this Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills, the odds will change.
Jalen Hurts will have to hope that he can return this weekend and lead the Eagles to the #1 seed in the NFC. If he can find a way to do so, while still playing the type of football he played prior to his injury, it's going to be tough for oddsmakers to say he doesn't deserve to win the award.
As we saw from the Eagles in Week 17, they're a completely different team when Hurts isn't playing. While we could likely say that for the other candidates and how their teams would look if they weren't playing, there's a significant drop-off in the way that the Eagles played when Hurts was out there compared to when he's not.
Let's break down the latest NFL MVP odds and see where the value is.

As we can see from the current NFL MVP odds, Patrick Mahomes is coming in as a huge favor at -800. Considering the type of way he's played this season, it is tough to argue with oddsmakers that he doesn't deserve to be the MVP.

However, it's somewhat surprising to see that he's this much of a heavy favorite considering the talent there has been around the league this season.
We've already mentioned this prior, but this game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals could come back to be pivotal for both teams. If Josh Allen comes out and significantly outplays Burrow on his home field, oddsmakers are going to have a tough time debating what Josh Allen did this season. He also did so while being injured for most of the year as he's playing through an arm injury.
There also has to be something said for what Joe Burrow has done this season. The Cincinnati Bengals made it to the Super Bowl last year and while everybody knew that this team was legit, there were still some questions about what they were going to be able to do throughout the year. They didn't necessarily have the start of the season that they were looking for, but Burrow decided to put the team on his back and that resulted in him throwing for over 4,000 yards with 34 touchdowns.
If Jalen Hurts wasn't injured the past two weeks, there's a great argument to be made that he was clearly the NFL MVP.
Unfortunately, the NFL MVP odds do not reflect him winning this award and that's tough because of what he was able to do prior to his injury. Not only did he throw for nearly 3,500 yards and 22 touchdowns, he also was incredible with his legs as he rushed for 747 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was playing at an MVP level prior to his injury.
Mahomes looks to have the award locked up, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the NFL MVP odds drastically change.
