Carson Wentz’s career as a starting quarterback has likely come to a close for now. However, he could land a job as one of the top backup quarterbacks in the NFL. With that in mind, the Kansas City Chiefs are currently the favorites to land him.

Carson Wentz Next Team Odds
The Chiefs are given +300 odds or an implied 25% chance to land Wentz. Their biggest competition is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are given +400 odds or an implied 20% chance to bring in Wentz to compete with Kyle Trask.
Surprisingly, the market for Wentz is expected to be incredibly strong. Nine teams are given at least a 10% chance to land former Pro-Bowler. Those range from backup positions like the Chiefs and Buffalo Bills at +700 to competitions for young quarterbacks like the Bucs, Carolina Panthers at +700, Atlanta Falcons at +700, and Houston Texans at +800. Even stopgap starting jobs like the Las Vegas Raiders at +600, Arizona Cardinals at +700, and the New York Jets at +800.
The one thing that sportsbooks don’t believe is that Wentz will be out of the NFL. He’s given +2000 odds to go to either the XFL or CFL at just a 4.8% chance.
Chiefs longtime backup quarterback Chad Henne just retired and they need a replacement and are likely looking for a high-end one. Wentz fits the bill if they’re willing to pay him. Of course, Wentz could have the chance to win a starting job on another team, which may be more appealing. But Wentz wouldn’t be the first player to attempt to rehab their value by being a backup on an elite team.
