Well, the NFL season is officially underway, and it couldn't be a more exciting time. Matt McCuen shares his NFL Top 10 Power Rankings.
NFL Top 10 Power Rankings Into Week 1
1. Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia reached the Super Bowl a season ago but came up short of their ultimate goal. The Eagles extended Jalen Hurts in the off-season as he will be the team's franchise quarterback. From a talent perspective, no roster is deeper than the Eagles, as they will have a top-five offense and top-five defense in the NFL.
2. Buffalo Bills
The Bills are being a bit underrated entering the season. Buffalo ended the season 13-3, but they were upset in the playoffs by the Cincinnati Bengals. Overall, this was a top-tier offense and defense in football led by superstar quarterback Josh Allen.
3. Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are the best quarterback-wide receiver combination in football, making them a top-five team. The defense for the Bengals was much better a season ago, and if they perform up to par, this is one of the best teams in the NFL.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City will look to defend their championship this season. Kansas City has won two Super Bowls in the last four years, led by the combination of Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. Kansas City looked poor in their first showing of the season but will likely turn things around and move up the board within the next few weeks.
5. New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers will take over this New York Jets offense. New York was a top-five defense in football in 2022, and now they have an opportunity to be a top-ten defense led by Rodgers.
6. Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson inked a contract in the off-season, keeping him around for a long time at the helm for the Ravens. Jackson finally getting his contract will help him focus on the field, which is significant for the Ravens. Additionally, the Ravens finally added some weapons at wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers.
7. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers may have the best defense in football as they got even better in the off-season, adding Javon Hargrave. Brock Purdy will be in his first year as a full-time starter. Purdy was impressive last year, but it is fair to question if he can do this success this year.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville will be playing in one of the worst divisions in football in the AFC South. Trevor Lawrence will be in his third year at the helm for Jacksonville. Lawrence took a big step forward a season ago and will only get better.
9. Los Angeles Chargers
Led by Justin Herbert, the Chargers will be one of the best offenses in football. If the Chargers stay healthy, they have the ability to rank toward the top half of the league on defense, which should lead to wins.
10. New Orleans Saints
The Saints added Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr in the off-season. The addition of Carr will make the Saints a legitimate offense. The Saints have one of the best defenses in football, and if they perform up to their capabilities, this can be a dangerous team out of the AFC.
