Washington Commanders Chase Young

Chase Young Next Team Odds: Young Given 33.3% Chance to Play for Lions Next

The Washington Commanders are considering some offers ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Could Chase Young be the next star to get moved as the team struggles? Let's take a look at the latest betting odds.

Chase Young Next Team Odds: Young Given 33.3% Chance to Land with Lions as Next Team

With under a week remaining before the NFL trade deadline, several stars are on the block to potentially be moved. Former rookie of the year, Chase Young, could be on his way out of Washington, according to the latest betting odds.

The Commanders already declined Young's fifth-year option in the offseason, largely due to his injury-plagued tenure. They will likely have to pay Montez Sweat after this season, and didn't want to lock themselves into a deal without knowing how Young would perform in 2023.

It's safe to say he is on a tear already, recording five sacks in just five games. He missed almost all of 2022 while recovering from an ACL tear, but has announced his return in a big way as he terrorizes opposing quarterbacks. He is just a half sack away from sitting in the top-10 of the league's sack leaders, and that is all while missing two games already.

There are plenty of teams interested in the second-overall pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, who has already been racking up stats in his first full season back. Who has the best chance to land Chase Young if he doesn't stay with the Commanders? Let's take a look at the odds.

The Detroit Lions are currently leading the pack to land Young, according to the latest odds. They have an implied probability of 33.3% to acquire him via trade, if he is no longer staying with the Commanders. The 49ers and Bears are also in the hunt at a 25% chance each, as San Fran looks to beef up their unit next to Nick Bosa.

The Lions are off to the best start in decades, with Dan Campbell's defense rising to the occasion. They did just suffer an embarrassing blowout at the hands of the Ravens, and were brought back to reality. Maybe Chase Young would be a strong reinforcement alongside another former second overall pick in Aidan Hutchinson.

The Eagles are also in the running for Young with a 16.7% chance, despite having a stacked defensive front already. That didn't stop them when they went out and drafted Jalen Carter in the top-10 of this year's draft, and it has already been paying dividends for them through the first half of the season.

It is impossible to have too much talent on the defensive line, something proven time and time again by the top defenses in the NFL. Will the Eagles or Niners get richer with the addition of Young at the deadline? Or could the Detroit Lions swipe Young as they look to make their first playoff run in years? The odds tell the story of a highly sought after edge rusher who is desperate to land with a contender.
