Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Prediction
As seen in our FanDuel same-game parlay article, we are expecting a lot out of the Pittsburgh Steelers run game tonight. The Cowboys are ranked 27th in the NFL in rushing defense, and Najee Harris is primed to go off against them. Harris hasn't been able to punch it into the end zone yet this year in four games, but he has been rather successful in the field with his 68 carries. He's an absolute workhorse for the Steelers, and without Jaylen Warren, he will be the main man to gash this banged-up Cowboys D that doesn't have Micah Parsons to stop the run. Look for Harris and the Steelers to chew clock and build an early lead, and rely on T.J. Watt and their stacked defense to hold up against Dak and the Cowboys.
The betting splits have the Cowboys as a public dog, further backing up our expected game script. It's a natural reaction for most bettors, seeing a team with more talent and a better quarterback as an underdog in a prime time game. They will often hammer that spot, and it makes decent sense from a football perspective. But when you dig a little deeper into the matchup and look at the history, road environment, and injuries, you can start to see why Pittsburgh is a sharp slight favorite at home. The Steelers are getting 43% of the bets, but 53% of the money on the -2.5 spread. Meanwhile, Cowboys are at 57% of bets on the moneyline as well, but less than half of the total money. That means smaller bets are backing the Cowboys, but bigger money action is coming in on the Steelers to stand tall at home with strong defensive play.
