Bears head coach Matt Nagy

Titans Next Head Coach Odds: Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith Among Early Favorites after Brian Callahan Fired

The Tennessee Titans waved goodbye to Brian Callahan earlier this week, with owner Amy Adams Strunk electing to go in a different direction after a sloppy year and a half. Could Matt Nagy or Arthur Smith be the guy to replace Callahan? Peter Alexis examines the next Titans Head coach odds.

Titans Next Head Coach Odds: Could Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith Get Another Head Coaching Job in Tennessee?

The Tennessee Titans are officially back on the coaching carousel after firing Brian Callahan just a year and a half into his tenure. The decision comes after another dismal campaign, as the Titans have managed only one win so far in 2025 following a three-win season the year prior. While Callahan inherited a depleted roster and a rookie quarterback in Cam Ward, the lack of competitiveness and blowout losses ultimately sealed his fate. The front office now shifts focus toward finding the right leader to rebuild around Ward and get the franchise back on track.

Tennessee’s search will be one of the most intriguing in the NFL, as the team has a young quarterback, a solid draft position, and ownership ready to spend. Still, it’s a challenging job given the lack of proven playmakers and the uncertainty of a long-term plan. That hasn’t stopped sportsbooks from posting odds, with several experienced names emerging as early favorites. The list includes multiple former head coaches looking for redemption, as well as a few high-profile coordinators hoping to make the leap.

At the top of the board sits Matt Nagy at +400 and Arthur Smith close behind at +500. Both bring head coaching experience, offensive pedigrees, and reputations that could appeal to a front office eager for structure and stability. But they’ll have competition from others in the mix, including Kliff Kingsbury (+600) and Mike McCarthy (+800), who each bring distinct offensive philosophies and proven success at different levels. Let’s break down the leading candidates to take over in Tennessee.

Matt Nagy +400 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The current Chiefs offensive coordinator has regained much of his reputation working alongside Patrick Mahomes again in Kansas City. A former NFL Coach of the Year with the Bears in 2018, Nagy has experience managing young quarterbacks and building efficient offenses. His connection to Andy Reid and his track record of playoff appearances could make him appealing for a Titans team desperate to modernize its attack.

Arthur Smith +500 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Smith’s ties to Tennessee run deep, having served as offensive coordinator for the Titans from 2019 to 2020 before landing the Falcons’ head coaching job. He helped unlock Ryan Tannehill’s best years and engineered a top-tier rushing attack with Derrick Henry. After a brief stint as Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator, a return to Nashville could be a homecoming story—and one that makes sense stylistically if the Titans want to lean on balance and play-action.

Kliff Kingsbury +600 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Currently running the Commanders’ offense under Jayden Daniels, Kingsbury has rebuilt his image with creative play design and quarterback development. His experience coaching Kyler Murray in Arizona gives him credibility as a developer of young talent, and he could be seen as a natural fit for Cam Ward’s dual-threat skill set. The main concern is whether his offensive style can hold up long-term in the physical AFC South.

Mike McCarthy +800 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

A veteran with a Super Bowl title on his resume, McCarthy offers stability and experience that could appeal to a franchise in flux. His offensive approach might not be cutting-edge, but he’s managed multiple successful teams and handled high-pressure situations throughout his career. After his Dallas exit, McCarthy may want another shot to prove he still has what it takes to lead a contender—something the Titans could offer with a strong offseason rebuild.

Jim Schwartz +1400 Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Keep an eye on Jim Schwartz here at +1400 odds. He's the current Cleveland Browns DC, and is currently allowing the fewest yards per game in the NFL, despite continuous sabotage by the offense. At only 260 yards per game allowed, they are put in terrible position by the quarterback carousel on the other side that can't find any consistency, forcing the defense to be on the field for 70% of the game.

Many front office execs know how impressive the Browns defense is despite their losing record, and in the event that they clear house at the end of the season, Schwartz will be sought after to help many teams with defensive issues, just like the Titans. He was already the defensive coordinator in Nashville for eight seasons, and could reprise that role or even be considered for the HC job. The Titans will likely want someone younger, but they have strong organizational trust in Schwartz.
