Carson Beck NFL Draft Odds: Which Team Will Scoop Up National Championship Runner Up in Round 2?

Carson Beck is now widely expected to be the next quarterback off the board on Friday night to follow up Mendoza and Simpson. Will the Cardinals grab him early, or could it be a team like Miami or Pittsburgh? Peter Alexis tracks the Beck storylines heading into Friday's Round 2 on April 24th.

Is Carson Beck a Lock in Round 2, and Who Will Draft Him?

Carson Beck has become one of the biggest movers on the board heading into Friday night. After going undrafted in Round 1, he surged to become the favorite to be the next quarterback selected, climbing to roughly a 73% chance in the market as teams reset for Rounds 2 and 3 and start targeting developmental passers with real starting upside.

That move makes sense in the context of how Thursday unfolded. Fernando Mendoza went first overall, Ty Simpson shocked the board by going 13th to the Rams, and suddenly Beck became the cleanest remaining quarterback option for several QB-hungry teams near the top of Day 2. His path now looks much clearer than it did 24 hours ago.

Carson Beck NFL Draft Odds Breakdown

The odds tell the story. Beck is around -300 to be drafted in Round 2, which implies the market expects him to come off the board fairly early Friday, and he is also +350 to be the 34th pick to Arizona. Those numbers line up with the broader view that if he does not go immediately at the top of Round 2, he probably still does not last very long.

The team-to-draft-him market is even more revealing. The Cardinals are the favorite at +150, followed by the Steelers at +400, with the Jets and Dolphins both at +600. Arizona’s No. 34 slot is the obvious pressure point because the Cardinals have been repeatedly tied to quarterbacks on Day 2, while Pittsburgh remains one of the clearest long-term quarterback need teams left on the board. The Jets and Dolphins are more situational fits, but both have enough uncertainty at the position to stay involved if Beck slides into the right range.

Beck’s college résumé supports why teams are still interested even after the first-round wait. In 2025 at Miami, he threw for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, adding a high-volume passing season and a run to the national title game to his profile. He is not viewed as a perfect prospect, and concerns about accuracy consistency and pure physical ceiling have followed him through the process, but he still offers experience, size, and enough arm talent to make sense for a team looking for a Day 2 quarterback with a path to starts down the road.

The reason Beck is rising now is pretty simple: the board has cleared for him. Once Simpson went earlier than expected, Beck became the most straightforward remaining answer for teams that missed out on a Round 1 quarterback but still want one before the market dries up. That does not guarantee Arizona at 34, but it does explain why his odds have tightened so sharply and why Friday feels like the night his wait ends.
