What is the TGL Format for the Opening Season?
You might not have got your head around what TGL is all about just yet, and that's understandable as until it gets underway, there is still a lot to learn. To help you get an understanding of what is to come, and why you might want to watch and bet on TGL, here is the basic format outlined below:
League Format
TGL will use a points-based system, rewarding two points for a win and one point for a loss if the match goes to overtime. Each team will play every other team in the league in a round-robin format in the hope of reaching the playoffs.
Match Format
Each TGL match will be 15 holes. 9 of those holes will be competed as "Triples" (3 vs 3) and the remaining 6 holes will be "Singles" matches, which will see players go head-to-head.
The "Triples" format will be alternate shot, which means if Rory McIlroy was to tee off for his Boston Common team, then one of Keegan Bradley or Adam Scott will take the next shot, and so on, until the hole is complete.
Each hole won is worth one point.
In the "Singles" format, one player plays head-to-head with their opponent on one hole, and then two new opponents tee off against one another on the next hole.
Where is TGL Being Held?
The SoFi Center in Palm Beach State College will play host to the inaugural TGL season.
Where to Watch TGL?
ESPN has won the rights to show TGL on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN+.
