Genesis Invitational: How to Bet at Torrey Pines as Tiger Woods Plays Host

After an epic week at the Phoenix Open, where Belgian, Thomas Detry broke through for his first PGA Tour win, we now head back to Torrey Pines for the second time in a month. This is an unusual situation, but the Genesis Invitational has had to move venues, due to the tragedy of the LA wildfires.

Tiger Woods will play host in what will be an emotional week, given the recent passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, and for that reason, he has decided he is not ready to play, but will still be here in his role of tournament host. This is a historic venue on the PGA Tour, largely because of Tiger's eight wins here, and this is a classic example of there being much bigger things in life than golf.

Despite these tragedies, we do still have a tournament on our hands, and Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy head a limited-but-elite field for the 2025 Genesis Invitational.

Let's take a look at the latest Genesis Invitational Odds to see who is in contention for another huge title on this year's PGA Tour.

Genesis Invitational Odds: Scottie Scheffler Still Favorite Despite McIlroy's Recent Win

Scottie Scheffler's 7-win season in 2024 is keeping him firmly at the top of the odds board, but after a dominating performance from Rory McIlroy at Pebble Beach, the gap will surely close sooner than later. These two are still considered head and shoulders above the competition all the time Xander Schauffele is out with injury, and the odds board still reflects that this week.

Below are the best prices for the top 10 players in the field, as compared here at oddschecker.

  • Scottie Scheffler (+450)
  • Rory McIlroy (+700)
  • Collin Morikawa (+1600)
  • Justin Thomas (+1800)
  • Hideki Matsuyama (+2500)
  • Ludvig Aberg (+2500)
  • Patrick Cantlay (+3300)
  • Sungjae Im (+3500)
  • Rasmus Hojgaard (+4000)
  • Taylor Pendrith (+4000)

Scheffler didn't have the week he would have hoped at the Phoenix Open last week, finishing poorly and losing his cool for what feels like the first time in a long time. He returns now to Torrey Pines, where he has very mixed form, looking to put things right.

One player who doesn't need to put things right is Rory McIlroy, who has won two of his last four events, ending 2024 with a win at the DP World Tour Championship and starting 2025 with a win at Pebble Beach. He was completely dominant tee to green on Sunday, and if he can find that form again he will be a threat this week. For me, the two look too far apart in the market, and Rory should be closer to the favorite.

Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas play the role of "best of the rest" this week and both are in good enough form to suggest they can contend here. Unfortunately, neither of them got over the line in 2024, and in Justin Thomas' case, it's been almost 3 years since he won. That will change, but whether that comes this week at Torrey remains to be seen.

Rasmus Hojgaard has been making waves in his early starts on the PGA Tour, and he along with Taylor Pendrith make plenty of appeal at +4000.

Are Any Course Winners in the Field?

We have former Genesis Invitational winners in the field, but we need to know if we have former Torrey Pines winners in the field, given the course switch. Let's take a look:

  • Harris English (2025 Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Mathieu Pavon (2024 Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Max Homa (2023 Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Justin Rose (2019 Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Jason Day (2018, 2015 Farmers Insurance Open)

Where to Bet on the Genesis Invitational

You can bet on this event at all your favorite US Sportsbooks, but these are our favorite sportsbooks. This is based on average odds, number of betting markets, and more.

Who Offers the Best Genesis Invitational Odds?

FanDuel Sportsbook are top price on 25 of the top 30 players on the odds board, making them comprehensively the best sportsbook for Genesis Invitational odds.

They are slightly shorter on the two favorites: Scottie Scheffler is +400 when +450 is available elsewhere, and Rory McIlroy is +650 when +700 is available. This is only half a point difference, and it is unlikely to be a reason to bet elsewhere.

With that said, if you are desperate to back the two favorites and you are a new FanDuel user, then you could boost either player to an effective +3000, as you bet $5, get $150 in bonus bets if your player wins this week.
