The PGA Tour heads overseas for a two-week stint, beginning with the 2025 Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club this week. Located in North Berwick, Scotland, this is a par 70 links course spanning 7,282 yards with five par 3s and three par 5s.
Last year's winner, Robert MacIntyre, found himself in a duel late in the final round with Adam Scott, before recording an outright win via one stroke at 18-under-par. The Scotsman is currently +3300 to win during his title defense, previously posting a runner-up finish behind Rory McIlroy at this event in 2023.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are back in action as overwhelming betting favorites. Scheffler is valued at +425 odds in the outright winner market, followed by McIlroy at +800 odds. There's a huge gap between these two top-ranked golfers and the rest of the field, with Tommy Fleetwood and Xander Schauffele both sitting at +2200 odds.

PGA Power Rankings: Scottish Open

Rory McIlroy has fared well at the Renaissance Club, winning the Scottish Open at 15-under-par in 2023, with a T4 finish at 14-under-par recorded last year. He hasn't played since a T6 finish at the Travelers Championship on June 22nd.
McIlroy has collected three wins in 2025, including six top 10 finishes in 12 events played. Ranks second total strokes gained, including fourth SG: Off-the-Tee, fifth SG: Putting and 25th scrambling.
The power off-the-tee is the iconic piece of McIlroy's game. However, he's also greatly improved his short game this season.
McIlroy ranks seventh in putting average and 10th in one putt percentage. This means he'll likely hold an edge against the field if this event turns into a putting contest with minimal wind in play.

It was nothing but heartbreak for Tommy Fleetwood at the Travelers Championship, losing his multi-stroke lead on Sunday, allowing Keegan Bradley to mount a successful comeback win. The Englishman remains without an outright win on the PGA Tour, despite numerous other accolades.
Fleetwood ranks third total strokes gained. He's eighth SG: Approach, 33rd SG: Putting and 37th in driving accuracy. The putter has been hot lately, ranked inside the top 30 for putting average, putts per round and one-putt percentage.
The inability to breakthrough with a win may cause hesitation when it comes to betting on Fleetwood this week. However, his game is too good to ignore right now. T4-T6-T34 at the Scottish Open since 2022.

We can't fade Robert MacIntyre at the Scottish Open. It just doesn't feel right, especially since he's nearly won this event in back-to-back years.
MacIntyre has had some quality rounds on the PGA Tour in 2025 but he's still seeking his first outright win. Ranks 20th total strokes gained, including 24th SG: Off-the-Tee, 30th SG: Approach and 23rd at finding greens in regulation.
Sits 33rd in scoring average (69.9), 21st on par 4s and 36th in sand save percentage. MacIntyre missed the cut here in 2022 but the Scotsman has been red hot at this course for two straight years.
A recent runner-up and a T17 finish at the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship are encouraging signs to back MacIntyre leading up to Round 1 on Thursday.

Despite only placing T25 or better once in three consecutive appearances, Viktor Hovland's game should translate well to the Renaissance Club. He hasn't played a round on the PGA Tour since withdrawing from the Travelers Championship in Round 3 a few weeks ago.
Hovland's a bomber off-the-tee and on approach, while also possessing a natural talent for putting. Ranks fourth SG: Approach, 18th proximity and 10th on approach shots from 200+ yards.
The Norwegian golfer is also top 20 for birdie average in 2025. I expect a much better showing from Hovland at the Renaissance Club in 2025.

Sam Burns is one of the top putters on the PGA Tour this season, so he definitely warrants consideration in the outright winner market at the Scottish Open. The Louisiana native didn't play this event in 2024 but carded a T19 finish in 2023.
Ranks first in SG: Putting, 32nd total driving, seventh sand save percentage and 10th in birdie average. Burns' approach play is lacking, yet his driver and putter are good enough to overcome his streaky irons.
A playoff loss to Ryan Fox during the RBC Canadian Open saw Burns miss a five-foot birdie putt to win. Since that outcome, Burns has gone T7 at the U.S. Open and T17 during the Travelers Championship.
Burns is trending up, posting five consecutive top 20 finishes on the PGA Tour. He could climb into contention with his driver and putter at the Renaissance Club this week, making 40-1 a valuable price
