Round 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs is underway and we've already been treated to several electrifying finishes through the early portion of the Conference Semifinals.
Sports bettors are hammering the Florida Panthers to win the 2024 Stanley Cup, despite the New York Rangers currently being valued by oddsmakers as the outright betting favorite at +330 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. The Panthers are the second favorite, followed by the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton Oilers.

The New York Rangers are the only team left with an undefeated record in the playoffs. Vincent Trocheck and Artemi Panarin scored game-winning goals in overtime during Game 2 and Game 3 to go up 3-0 against the Carolina Hurricanes, who started as the outright betting favorites in Round 1.
Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers are the next betting favorite at +420 odds, erasing a 1-0 series deficit to Boston with a resounding 6-1 win in Game 2. Despite being down 1-0 after the first period, Aleksander Barkov led the charge for the Panthers in the final two periods, recording four points, including two goals, to throttle the Bruins.
Dallas' +480 odds are shorter than they were following a shocking Game 1 overtime loss to Colorado. The Stars blew a 3-0 first period lead and nearly blew another multi-goal lead in Game 2, before holding off the Avalanche and notching an empty-net goal to even the series at home.
Edmonton remains a 5-1 favorite, even though the Oilers also blew a 4-1 lead to Vancouver on the road in Game 1. The Canucks' late push wound up securing them a 5-4 win in regulation, as goaltender Stuart Skinner struggled to defend the crease. Vancouver currently has the second longest odds to win the 2024 Stanley Cup at +1200, which explains why so many bettors are investing in them within futures markets.

Bettors cannot get enough of the 2024 Florida Panthers. Right now, the Panthers are receiving close to 22 percent of total bets to win the Stanley Cup. They got there last season, but Sergei Bobrovsky's unconscious goaltending run sputtered against Vegas.
We've seen the Panthers' offense dominate all season long and they did it again in Game 2 against a really good Boston Bruins team, scoring six unanswered goals to make Jeremy Swayman look like an average goaltender. Vancouver shocked the hockey world with its 4-1 comeback at home against Edmonton in Game 1. Oddsmakers are still undervaluing the Canucks at 12-1 odds, despite holding a 1-0 lead over the Oilers.
In the regular season, Vancouver swept Edmonton 4-0. However, the Oilers' powerplay and offensive firepower, led by Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Zach Hyman, is likely the reason for the Canucks being available at such a huge number in the 2024 Stanley Cup futures market. This explains why over 19 percent of the betting handle is on Vancouver right now.
RANGERS (18.77%)
The New York Rangers look to be a team of destiny. Led by Igor Shesterkin, a 2022 Vezina Trophy winner, Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider blend together to become a powerhouse on the Rangers' top-two attack lines.
Carolina is a great team but the Rangers' are finding ways to erase early deficits against them through three games. Their defense, excluding Shesterkin, is more predicated to be a weapon in the offensive zone, but their scoring ability is top-tier and virtually unmatched. This has led to 18 percent of the betting handle on New York to win the 2024 Stanley Cup and also explains why the Rangers are the outright favorites at +330.
