6 min2025 NHL Conn Smythe Trophy Odds: Connor McDavid Leads Early Betting for Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP
The NHL Conn Smythe Trophy is reserved for the most valuable player of his team during the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. In 2024, Connor McDavid won this award, despite the Oilers losing to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He did not leave the locker room to accept the trophy, following Edmonton's 2-1 loss.
Eight teams remain in contention for the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals. A player from one of these teams will ultimately be given the 2025 NHL Conn Smythe Trophy. Let's take a look at current prices available to bet in the 2025 Conn Smythe futures market.
NHL handicapper Matt MacKay will analyze a few of the players favored to win the 2025 NHL Conn Smythe Trophy. He'll recommend whether to tail or fade them at their latest price. Follow Matt's X account for further NHL betting insight and free picks during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2025 NHL Conn Smythe Trophy Odds
Connor McDavid (+850) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Conn Smythe Trophy odds
Could we see Connor McDavid win the Conn Smythe Trophy in back-to-back seasons? It hasn't been done since Sidney Crosby in 2016 and 2017 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
McDavid finished with 11 points during Edmonton's 4-2 First Round series win over the Los Angeles Kings. He notched nine assists and two goals during the Oilers' four-game winning streak to close out the Kings.
I don't expect Edmonton to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals since they will likely lose to Dallas in the Western Conference Finals. For this reason, I'm fading the Conn Smythe Trophy favorite at +850 odds.
Mikko Rantanen (+1000) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Conn Smythe Trophy odds
We just watched Mikko Rantanen put on a clutch and historic performance to help Dallas rally past Colorado in Game 7 to advance to the Second Round. Rantanen recorded a hat trick, including four total points, all in the 3rd period.
Rantanen got revenge against his former team in the First Round. Now, he'll try to replicate this production against Winnipeg in the Second Round. I believe the Stars, who are expected to get two high-quality starters back on the ice against the Jets, have a great chance to win the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals.
We know a player doesn't have to be on the winning team based on McDavid earning the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy last year. However, I believe Dallas winds up winning the Stanley Cup Finals this year and Rantanen will be a huge reason why that happens.
Let's bet a unit on Rantanen to win the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy at 10-1 odds.
Jack Eichel (+1400) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Conn Smythe Trophy odds
Jack Eichel led the Golden Knights with five points in the First Round against Minnesota. Vegas didn't score a ton during their victory over the Wild but Eichel was integral in a pair of goals that kept the Golden Knights permanently in the lead on the road to close out the series in Game 6.
Eichel helped Vegas win the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals. He's an immense talent in the center of the ice but his supporting cast isn't good enough to get the Golden Knights past Edmonton in the Second Round.
I'm fading Eichel to win the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy at 14-1 odds.
Sebastian Aho (+1400) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Conn Smythe Trophy odds
Sebastian Aho led the Carolina Hurricanes with eight points during their 4-1 series win over New Jersey in the First Round. This included three goals, tied for second most on the Hurricanes' offense.
Aho is going to have a tough time generating scoring chances against Washington in the Second Round. Oddsmakers are favoring the wrong team in this series, as I believe the Capitals will beat Aho's Hurricanes in five or six games.
This is no knock on Aho's talent and value to Carolina's offense. I just don't foresee the Hurricanes beating the Capitals, let along making it to the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals. Therefore, I'm not biting on Aho to win the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy, even at +1400 odds.
Kyle Connor (+1600) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Conn Smythe Trophy odds
Kyle Connor was a game-wrecker for Winnipeg against St. Louis. Without Connor, the Jets may have been eliminated in five games. Instead, Connor's playoff-leading production, finishing with 12 points and four goals, allowed Winnipeg to narrowly escape defeat against the Blues.
Connor led the Jets in shots on goal (22), goals (4), assists (8) and points (12) during the First Round. They'll need him to stay hot against Dallas in the Second Round to have any chance of beating the Stars.
No one else recorded more than six points for Winnipeg in the First Round, meaning Connor doubled the production of all other players on the Jets' roster. This makes him worthy of consideration to win the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy at +1600 odds.
I have a hard time foreseeing the Jets beating the Stars, even with a home ice advantage. There's virtually no chance that Connor wins this award for most valuable player in the Stanley Cup Playoffs if Winnipeg doesn't make the Western Conference Finals.
Based on the small percentage chance that Winnipeg does pull off the upset, I'd sprinkle a 0.10 unit wager on Connor in the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy futures market. This would net six units of profit if the Jets wind up going on a heater and knock off the Stars and Oilers to make the Stanley Cup Finals
