Oilers vs. Stars Playoff Series Odds: Total Games, Prop Bets for NHL Western Conference Finals

The Edmonton Oilers will face the Dallas Stars on the road at American Airlines Center for Game 1 of tonight's NHL Western Conference Finals. Last year, the Oilers erased a 2-1 series deficit and eliminated the Stars with three straight wins to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Oddsmakers currently lean in favor of Edmonton to win the 2025 NHL Western Conference Finals series at -110 odds. Dallas is even odds (+100) despite holding home ice advantage and getting two of their most productive players, F Jason Robertson and D Miro Heiskanen, back from injuries.

NHL Western Conference Series Odds: Edmonton Oilers Panthers vs. Dallas Stars

Oilers (-110) vs. Stars (+100) Series Moneyline Odds

Edmonton's two super star forwards, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, are undoubtedly the best players on the ice in this series. Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has elevated his play in the net, replacing Calvin Pickard due to injury, making the most of a second opportunity. However, Skinner was benched during Edmonton's First Round series against Los Angeles for poor play.

Dallas' offense has been running through F Mikko Rantanen in the playoffs. Rantanen is the leading goal scorer and points leader through two rounds, tallying nine goals and 19 points. His natural hat trick in the 3rd period against his former team, Colorado, allowed the Stars to eliminate the Avalanche in Game 7. Rantanen followed up that dazzling performance with another hat trick against Winnipeg in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

To me, this series comes down to which goaltender plays better. Skinner closed out Vegas with back-to-back stout performances, posting consecutive shutouts.

Stars goaltender, Jake Oettinger, has also been an asset for Dallas. He held the Jets to two or fewer goals in four of six games, while never surrendering more than three goals.

The Oilers have the most talented duo in McDavid and Draisaitl. However, Dallas' offense has more depth and gets more consistent contribution from their lower attack lines. Oettinger has the talent and confidence to face Edmonton's potent powerplay. Skinner also has momentum after consecutive shutouts but he's a much more volatile netminder compared to Oettinger.

I'll bet a unit on the Stars as home underdogs in a revenge spot against the Oilers in this Western Conference Finals series.

Oilers vs. Stars Total Games Odds: Over/Under 5.5

Dallas head coach Pete DeBoer is well-known for his perfect record in Game 7s. I think we see the Oilers and Stars go the distance with a Game 7 at American Airlines Center.

The Stars needed seven games to beat the Avalanche and six games to close out the Jets. Edmonton erased a 2-0 series deficit against the Kings with four straight wins, while winning a pair of overtime games against the Golden Knights in a 4-1 series victory.

The Oilers are capable of turning up their aggressiveness in the offensive zone and elevating their defensive play when the stakes are highest. We're going to have a lot of momentum swings in this 2025 Western Conference Finals matchup, leading to over 5.5 total games played. Plus, both of these teams play well on home ice.

It's a juicy line to bet over 5.5 total games in this series. I'd recommend betting up to two or three units on over 5.5 total games between the Oilers and Stars to maximize profit once this series is either 2-2 or 3-2.

Oilers vs. Stars Series Player Props Points O/U

Let's wrap up with a series player prop and target Stars D Thomas Harley. Harley filled in for Miro Heiskanen during his multi-month injury rehab. Now, Harley is an integral piece of Dallas' offense, remaining on the first powerplay unit.

Harley racked up five points against Colorado in the First Round without Heiskanen. In the Semi-Finals, even with Heiskanen joining him back on the top defensive line, Harley recorded six points. He's scored twice in each round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

We're laying a bit of juice on Harley to go over 3.5 total points at -140 odds against Edmonton in this Western Conference Finals series. Oddsmakers should've set this line to 4.5.

Let's pounce on this price and bet a unit on Harley to remain productive against a volatile goaltender like Stuart Skinner.
