F1 Futures Odds: Updated Drivers, Constructors Championship Odds and Picks

Before the 2022 Formula One season heads to Azerbaijan next week for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, let’s take a pause and see where things stand in both the Drivers' and Constructors' odd markets as we now have seven races in the book. Through the first three races, it looked like it might be Ferrari and lead driver Chares Leclerc’s season to lose, as Leclerc brought home the title in two of three races while Ferrari sat firmly atop the standings.

Three races later, however, the tides turned sharply as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen raddled off three straight wins to climb atop the standings; as did Red Bull. Following a disastrous strategy mistake from Leclerc in Red Bull in Monaco last week, Leclerc finished in the dreaded four spot as Red Bull’s Perez and Verstappen finished 1st and 3rd (Ferrari’s Sainz #2).

How will things shake out down the back half of the season? Let’s take a closer look at the F1 Futures odds.

F1 Drivers Championship Odds: Max Verstappen (-135) (Bet $135 to win $100)

Outside of performance issues that kept him off of it in the first (Bahrain) and third (Australia) events of the season, reigning title holder Verstappen has found the podium every single week so far this season. With four wins amongst them, seven events into the season, Verstappen sits atop the driver’s standings by 9 points, currently with 125 to Leclerc’s 116.

One week removed from Red Bull deciding to strategically let Verstappen get the win over then-leader Sergio Perez, Perez was paid back in spades last week as he claimed victory at an electric Monaco Grand Prix. Now that all is square on that front, look for Verstappen to take back the reigns as Red Bull’s lead man in weeks to come.

While Leclerc’s early lead in points this season is nothing to scoff at, I think the more weeks go by where Ferrari makes strategic errors from a lack of not being there in recent years, the more advantage slides to Red Bull and specifically Verstappen to build their leads in the standings. While this is a steep number to pay with so much racing left, I think this number only grows more expensive in the coming weeks.

F1 Constructors Championship Odds: Red Bull (-145) (Bet $145 to win $100)

In addition to having the solidified most elite driver in the sport right now, all of Red Bull’s early-season mechanical and performance issues appear to be a thing of the past. Heading into week eight of the season, Red Bull’s drivers (Perez/Verstappen) have found the podium a combined eight times, with four of those occasions coming in the past two weeks as they finished 1 and 2 in Spain and 2 and 3 in Monaco.

As we saw last season after an early lead from then-rival Mercedes, Red Bull has a proven track record of improving as the season goes on, making adjustments each and every week that prove almost immediate results.
