LAFC is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to win their second straight title. They have some serious expected competition from the East, as the Philadelphia Union and New York City FC are given +700 and +900 odds respectively. That’s a 12.5% chance for the Union to win their first title in their history and a 10% chance that NYCFC wins their second title in three years.
LAFC’s biggest challenge in the West is expected to be Austin FC. The Oaks are given +1200 odds, or an implied 7.7% chance to win. Meaning, LAFC is the only team in the West given even a 10% chance to win the MSL Cup this season.
LAFC is bringing in a number of star players expected to help them take home a second straight title. From Gareth Bale to Giorgio Chiellini and Aaron Long. They did also lose top goal scorer Cristian Arango in the transfer window. Did they strike the right balance in the window or have they gone too far chasing older European players? The sportsbooks think they have the most talent in MLS, but only time will tell.
