2020 Masters Odds: Tiger Woods Best Backed Player In The Field Since Play Started

Master Odds: Tiger Woods Best Backed Player In The Field
We reported a few days ago that Tiger Woods was given just a 2.8% chance of defending his Masters title this week by oddsmakers; who made Tiger a +4500 (45/1) chance at the start of the tournament. Â
That’s now completely changed after a great opening round by the defending champ.
Tiger went round on Thursday in a bogey-free 68 and looked right back to his imperious 2019 form. And the sportsbooks were impressed. His odds have unsurprisingly dropped down to +1800, which is now a 5.3% percentage probability of winning.
Bettors were aligned on that too, as Tiger has been the best backed player in the past 24 hours with OddsChecker. We can report that Tiger Woods has taken in 9.06% of total bets in the past day and that’s despite a number of other big names also performing strongly on the opening day. Bettors are backing Tiger to go back-to-back and make it a record-tying sixth Green Jacket.
Of the other leading contenders, we have a new betting favorite in Justin Thomas, who despite not being able to finish his first round, tops the market at +500. He’s still not as popular with bettors as Tiger Woods, or even pre-tournament favorite Bryson DeChambeau, who despite some errant shots, is still proving popular. DeChambeau is now +1400 after an opening round of 70, but has been the 2nd best backed player in the field with 8.58% of total bets.
