2020 US Presidential Election Odds: $1.3m Bet On Joe Biden Breaks Record
Just hours before the 2020 US Presidential Election, the record for the largest bet placed on the market has been broken.
£1,000,000 bet on Joe Biden
An unidentified bettor has placed £1M, or $1.29M, on Joe Biden to be the next President of the United States.
Although there has been some enormous wagers in the build up to November 3rd – some in the region of hundreds of thousands of dollars – none have exceeded the million mark until now.
The majority of larger bets placed on the election have gone in favor of the former vice-president, compared to higher frequency of lower stake bets on Donald Trump.
£275M ($355M) worth of bets have been placed on the market so far at time of writing, and activity is only set to increase as it becomes hours rather than days until voting booths close.

OddsChecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “We reported earlier in the week that a £650,000 ($893,332) bet had been placed on Joe Biden, but this latest bet has dwarfed anything that’s come before it.”
“To say that the total handle laid down once the markets close will exceed £400M ($516M) would be conservative, and that's just on one betting exchange in the UK."
"Given that some oddsmakers will continue to take bets until the election result is revealed, rather than when voting ends, bettors are going to have extra days - and potentially weeks - to lay their money down.”
