Novak Djokovic vs. Thanasi Kokkinakis Wimbledon Preview

To no one's surprise, the favorite to win Wimbledon is Novak Djokovic. He squares off with a tough second-round matchup with Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia. They are set to face off Wednesday at 8:30 am ET. Here's a closer look at the Novak Djokovic vs. Thanasi Kokkinakis Wimbledon odds.

Novak Djokovic (No. 1)

Despite his struggles in his first-round match with South Korean, Kwon Soon-woo, Djokovic is a heavy favorite for this match on Wednesday. Since losing to Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals at the French Open, he skipped the warm-up tournaments for Wimbledon and played in the Hurlingham Exhibition. There, he won his only match against Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.

Thanasi Kokkinakis (No. 79)

The Australian won in straight sets in the first round at Wimbledon, defeating Kamil Majchrzak (No. 91). The 26-year-old has had his ups and downs failing to maintain any consistency. He exited the French Open in the first round, but back in 2022, he won the Australian Open doubles Grand Slam title with Nick Krygios. So he does have some experience worth watching.

According to the oddsmakers, the Australian Kokkinakis hardly stands a chance to upset the World's Number 1 player. Djokovic is given a whopping 96% chance to advance to the third round.

As for Kokkinakis, +1300 odds or an implied 7.1% chance of upsetting Djokovic honestly seems too low. The two have faced off once before back in 2015 in a third-round match at the Fench Open. Djokovic disposed of Kokkinakis in straight sets then.
