Cleveland Guardians vs. Houston Astros Prediction: Can J.P. France, Houston Show Out on Monday?

Cleveland Guardians vs. Houston Astros prediction and pick for Monday's game between the two teams. With J.P. France on the mound for Houston and Noah Syndergaard making his Guardians debut, who should you back?

Cleveland Guardians vs. Houston Astros Prediction: Can J.P. France, Houston Show Out on Monday?

Tonight, Noah Syndergaard makes his debut for the Guardians. This will be the fourth team “Thor” has pitched for in the last two seasons. The 30-year-old veteran righty simply doesn’t have the same velocity that led to much of his success with the Mets years ago. Will another change of scenery rejuvenate Syndergard’s career, or does the veteran simply not have any gas left in the tank at this point?

Cleveland Guardians vs. Houston Astros Prediction

It won’t be an easy task for Syndergaard tonight, making his Cleveland debut against one of the best offenses in baseball. Now that Jordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve have some games under their belt after returning from injury, this lineup is only becoming more potent as the season carries on.

J.P. France has lowered his ERA below 3.00 after another solid start against the Rangers last week. The 28-year-old righty has done a solid job of filling into the rotation with many of Houston’s big-name starters still injured. If France has pitched well of late, and has a sub-3.00 ERA, why is this total at 9?

Cleveland’s offense has underperformed in 2023, as they barely sit at .500 on the year. To me, this total looks high with JP France on the bump against an underwhelming Guardians’ offense. If France does his job as expected, the runs need to come from somewhere.

Noah Syndergaard is an auto-fade until he proves significant changes have been made to his mechanics/pitch mix. Thor has openly talked about his struggles mentally with how poorly he’s pitched recently, don’t expect anything to change tonight against this potent Astros lineup.

Instead of betting the over in this game, or Houston (-175) on the moneyline, isolate the Astros’ bats and back their team total. I’ll be shocked if the Astros don’t score at least five runs off of Syndergaard alone in this matchup. Once an elite arm pumping over 100mph, this isnt the same Syndergaard we came to know and love. Fade him while we still have the opportunity…
