NRFI Bet of the Day: Check Out Our Expert's Pick for Monday's Must-Have NFRI Bet

To kick off the week, handicapper @NRFIalgorithm gives us his favorite NFRI bet for today. Read on to see why he's eyeing the Mets vs. Padres Monday night game.

NRFI Bet of the Day: Check Out Our Expert's Pick for Monday's Must-Have NFRI Bet

Max Scherzer, the ace of the New York Mets, will take on the traveling San Diego Padres on Monday to begin the week. Scherzer has a remarkable track record in the first inning, boasting an 18-5 (78%) NRFI record and an impressive 8-2 (80%) record while playing at home last season. Advanced statistics also reveal that Scherzer has been holding Machado, Soto, and Grisham to a combined 13-72 (.180 BA) in their careers.

New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres Prediction

The Padres have had a hard time hitting Scherzer in the past, and they will be coming off four consecutive road games in Atlanta. This season, the Padres are 3-1 (75%) to the NRFI on the road, but they failed to score yesterday against Dylan Dodd, who is significantly less skilled than Scherzer. It's expected that Scherzer will come out firing and confidently secure three outs for the NRFI crew.

In the next game, Yu Darvish, the king of the NRFI, will take on the New York Mets. Darvish has a remarkable track record of 23-8 to the NRFI dating back to last season, and he has already cashed in one for us earlier this season. In 14.0 innings last season against the Mets, Darvish allowed only one single run (.64 ERA) while striking out 15 and holding batters to a .138 batting average.

Looking at the Mets lineup, it's clear that they often struggle to battle against Darvish, as evidenced above, and they will have their hands full. The Mets are currently cashing the NRFI at a 70% rate this season while having a hit rate of 67% at home. Therefore, it's expected that Darvish will head into the city and take over New York for the successful NRFI here.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.
